2016 Renault UK Clio Cup
The 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup is a multi-event, One-Design, one make Motorsport, motor racing championship held across England. The championship features a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers competing in the Clio Renault Sport, Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. It forms part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the British Touring Car Championship, BTCC. It will be the 21st Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season and the 41st of UK motorsport undertaken by Renault and Renault Sport. The first race takes place on 2 April at Brands Hatch on the circuit's Indy configuration and concluded on 2 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after eighteen races held at nine meetings. Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom
The Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom was an entry level One-make, Touring car racing motor sport category and the current name in the long history of Renault one-make cups in the UK. It currently attracts drivers from across the United Kingdom to compete along with several drivers for European countries. The championship has been run to various regulations over the years, and can trace its history back to 1974. Several former drivers have become successful in other Touring car racing formulae, including Andy Priaulx, who went on to become multiple World Touring Car Championship champion and Jason Plato who is multiple British Touring Car Championship champion. The championship currently runs on the support package of the British Touring Car Championship.
