Association football had been growing in popularity in recent years, and this was an attempt to further develop the game on the island. The previous highest league in the country was the Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico. It shares Division I status with Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico. Karlos Ferrer Mojica (born January 28, 1998) is a Puerto Rican soccer player currently playing for Liga Puerto Rico club Metropolitan FA and the Puerto Rico national team. Career Youth career In 2011, Karlos Ferrer played for the CD Barbosa youth team, and in the 2011 season he was chosen as MVP. Club career On July 28, 2016, Ferrer was one of five youths practicing football to have been awarded the first Lyon Scholarship for sporting and academic excellence. Ferrer excelled with the Metropolitan FA during the past season of the Puerto Rico Soccer League. Ferrer became the all-time top scorer in the Puerto Rico Soccer League (PRSL) with 29 goals scored in a single season with the Metropolitan FA. The compact disc (CD) is a digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. Club Atlético River Plate Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rican professional football team based in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Yabuco FC (formally Yabuco Segunda Unidad Asunción Lugo FC or Yabuco SUAL FC), is a soccer team based in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. The club plays in the Puerto Rico Soccer League, the premier football division of Puerto Rico. History 2014 season Yabuco SUAL FC first joined the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico in 2014, winning the league title in their first season after finishing 2nd in the regular season league table behind Guayama FC.
