2016 Oregon Ducks Football Team
The 2016 Oregon Ducks football team represented the University of Oregon in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by fourth-year head coach Mark Helfrich and played their home games at Autzen Stadium for the 50th straight year. They were a member of the Pac-12 Conference in the North Division. They finished the season 4–8, 2–7 in Pac-12 play to finish in last place in the North Division. On November 29, Helfrich and Oregon agreed to part ways. He finished at Oregon with a four year record of 37–16. Mark Helfrich (American Football)
Mark August Helfrich (born October 28, 1973) is a former American football coach who is now an analyst for Fox Sports. He was the head coach for the University of Oregon from 2013 to 2016. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears from 2018 to 2019. He played professionally in the Austrian Football League. Playing career Recruited out of Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, Oregon, Helfrich was offered an opportunity to walk on at the University of Oregon; however, he decided to attend Southern Oregon instead, where he was the starting quarterback from 1992 to 1995 and was a NAIA All-American. Helfrich saw his most successful season in 1993 as he set school records for passing yards, touchdowns, and total offense. 2016 Arizona State Sun Devils Football Team
The 2016 Sun Devils football team represented Arizona State University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by fifth-year head coach Todd Graham and played their home games at Sun Devil Stadium. They were a member of the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They started the season 5-1, and needed to win one more game to become bowl eligible. However, they lost each of their last six games and did not qualify to play in a bowl game. The low point came in their season finale against in-state rival Arizona. With bowl eligibility on the line, the Sun Devils gave up 511 rushing yards in their 56-35 loss. ''ESPN College Football Friday Primetime'' is a live game presentation of Division I-FBS college football on ESPN or sometimes ESPN2 and ESPNU. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, games air on ABC. The 2016 California Golden Bears football team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bears were led by fourth-year head coach Sonny Dykes and played their home games at Memorial Stadium. Shortly after the conclusion of the 2015 season, Dykes stated that he did not anticipate any staff turnover. However, offensive coordinator Tony Franklin resigned from his position at California a few weeks after Dykes made this statement. Franklin left to take up the same position at Middle Tennessee State, citing a desire to move closer to his family in Kentucky. The Oregon–Washington football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies of the Pac-12 Conference. The 2016 Washington Huskies football team represented the University of Washington in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by Chris Petersen in his third season as head coach of the Huskies. Washington competed as a member of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference and played their home games on campus at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Washington finished the season with a 12–2 overall record and went 8–1 in conference to win the Pac-12 North Division, the program's first division title since the Pac-12 expanded and split into divisions in 2011. Most notable was defeating Stanford and Oregon, two of the toughest annual opponents for the team in recent years, by a combined 114–28.
