The 2016 Miami Hurricanes baseball team will represent the University of Miami during the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Hurricanes will play their home games at Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jim Morris (baseball Coach)
Jim Morris (born February 20, 1950) is the former head baseball coach at the University of Miami and Georgia Tech. His teams qualified for NCAA Regionals for 32 consecutive years, 23 at Miami and nine at Georgia Tech. Morris won national championships in 1999 and 2001, and earned National Coach of the Year honors in both seasons. Early career Morris began his coaching career as an assistant at Appalachian State in 1975. In 1976, he accepted the challenge of building, from scratch, a baseball program at Atlanta's DeKalb Community College. At DeKalb, Morris started with no players and no field, but he quickly made a name for himself. His Eagles were nationally ranked three times in four years and advanced to the 1977 Junior College World Series, where DeKalb placed second. Morris added two more winning years at DeKalb before moving on to become an assistant coach at Florida State. Mark Light Field At Alex Rodriguez Park
Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field is home field for the Miami Hurricanes baseball team at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. The stadium holds a capacity of 5,000 spectators and is located on the University of Miami's campus in Coral Gables. The first game on the field was held on February 16, 1973. The field is named for Mark Light, whose father, University of Miami fan George Light, donated money for its construction. Mark Light died of muscular dystrophy. and the field was dedicated in his honor in 1977. The 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on Friday, June 3, 2016, as part of the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2016 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska, starting on June 18, 2016, and ending on June 30, 2016. The 64 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of 298 eligible teams.
