2016 Kuala Kangsar By-election
A by-election was held for the Dewan Rakyat seat of P67 Kuala Kangsar, a parliamentary seat located in the state of Perak, Malaysia on 18 June 2016 following the nomination day on 5 June 2016. The seat fell vacant after death of member of parliament Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, who died in a helicopter crash on May 5, 2016 while campaigning in the Sarawak state election. In the 2013 general election, Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad won the seat with a majority of 1,082 votes beating Khalil Idham Lim Abdullah of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and independent candidate Kamilia Ibrahim. This by-election was held concurrently with the Sungai Besar by-election for the same reason. The Barisan Nasional candidate for Kuala Kangsar was United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) member Mastura Mohd Yazid who is the widow of the former MP Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad. Mastura Mohd Yazid
Datuk Mastura binti Mohd Yazid ( Jawi مستورة بنت محمد يزيد; born 22 August 1962) is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Special Functions for the second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad from August 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022 and the first term in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021 as well as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kuala Kangsar from June 2016 to November 2022. The Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS; ms, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia; ms, ڤرتي إسلام سمليسيا, label=Jawi alphabet, Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset) is an Islamist political party in Malaysia.
