2016 International Championship
The 2016 International Championship was a professional Snooker world rankings, ranking snooker tournament that took place between 23 and 30 October 2016 at the Baihu Media Broadcasting Centre in Daqing, China. It was the eighth ranking event of the Snooker season 2016/2017, 2016/2017 season. John Higgins was the defending champion but he lost 2–6 to Ding Junhui in the quarter-finals. Mark Selby won his 9th ranking title by beating Ding Junhui 10–1 in the final. This match was a repeat of the 2016 World Snooker Championship, 2016 World Championship final, in which Selby beat Ding by the 18–14 scoreline, and also the second consecutive ranking event final in China to feature both players, previous one, at the 2016 Shanghai Masters, Shanghai Masters, being won 10–6 by Ding. International Championship
The International Championship is a professional ranking snooker tournament. The reigning champion is Judd Trump. History The event was introduced in the 2012/2013 season. It was named as the "first overseas 'major'", because the tournament had the same level of ranking points as the UK Championship. With the change in the rankings system from points to prize money, the International Championship had the third highest prize fund and winner's cheque of any ranking event on the snooker calendar, behind the World and UK Championships, and the highest outside of the United Kingdom, until 2018 when the China Open had its winner's cheque raised to £225,000. Jimmy Robertson (snooker Player)
Jimmy Robertson (born 3 May 1986) is an English professional snooker player. In October 2018, Robertson won his first ranking title at the 2018 European Masters, defeating Joe Perry 9–6 in the final, despite never previously having gone beyond the quarter-finals of a ranking event. Robertson also holds the record for the most points scored in a frame in professional competition, scoring 178 against Lee Walker at the 2021 Scottish Open. Jak Jones
Jak Jones (born 29 July 1993) is a Welsh professional snooker player. Jones was born in Cwmbran, Wales. He became a professional in 2010 at the age of 16, by winning the 2010 European Under 19 Snooker Championship in Malta. Career Professional debut In his first year on the tour, Jones could only win one match in his attempts to qualify for the seven ranking events. He played in all 12 of the minor-ranking Players Tour Championship events throughout the year, with his best results being two last 32 defeats to be placed 85th on the Order of Merit. He ended his debut season ranked world number 94 meaning he was relegated from the tour as he did not finish inside the top 64. 2011/2012 season Jones could only enter PTC events since dropping of the tour and he played in 10 of the 12. Eden Sharav
Eden Sharav ( he, עדן שרב; born 30 April 1992) is an Israeli- Scottish former professional snooker player. He was born in Israel to an Israeli father and a Scottish-born mother. Career Amateur In 2010 Sharav reached the final of the Scottish amateur championship at the age of 17, one of the youngest players to compete in the final, the final was a best of 13 match against Bobby Cruickshanks, Eden lead the match 6-5 but eventually lost 7-6. Chen Zifan
Chen Zifan (, born 17 September 1995) is a Chinese professional snooker player who, in 2023, received a five-year ban from professional competition after committing match-fixing offences. In December 2022, Chen was suspended from the professional tour amid a match-fixing investigation. In January 2023, he was charged with fixing matches on the tour. Tian Pengfei
Tian Pengfei (, born 16 August 1987) is a Chinese professional snooker player. He began his career by playing the Challenge Tour in 2004, at the time the second-level professional tour. Tian played on the Main Tour in 2006 and competed on the World Snooker Tour for two seasons until he dropped off in 2008. He won the Beijing International Challenge, and returned to the Main Tour the following year. Career Tian first competed on the Main Tour in the 2006–07 season, dropping off the tour in the following season. Zhang Jiankang
Zhang Jiankang (; born 25 August 1998) is a Chinese former professional snooker player. He was suspended from the professional tour in January 2023 as part of a match-fixing investigation involving ten Chinese players. He was subsequently charged with fixing a match, failing to report approaches for him to fix matches, and betting on snooker. In June 2023 he was given a four year and five months suspension, which following early admissions and a guilty plea, was reduced to 2 years and 11 months until 1 December 2025. Career Zhang started to play aged 8, influenced by his father, who was a club-level player. He had seen Ding Junhui playing on television, and expressed an interest. Ross Muir
Ross Muir (born 6 October 1995 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. He regularly wears a glove on his bridge hand. Muir turned professional in 2013 after graduating from event two of the Q School, defeating David Morris 4–0 in the final round. Wang Yuchen (snooker Player)
Wang Yuchen (born 5 August 1997 in Henan) is a Chinese former professional snooker player. Career Wang Yuchen first drew international attention in September 2013 at the 2013 Shanghai Masters when competing as a wildcard he defeated Joe Perry to reach the last 32 of the tournament where he eventually lost to 3–5 Neil Robertson. Yuan Sijun
Yuan Sijun (Chinese: 袁思俊; born 29 May 2000) is a Chinese professional snooker player. Career Yuan started to play snooker at the age of 10 and played as a wildcard in many professional tournaments between ages of 13 and 16. Yuan first drew attention in 2016 when, at the age of 15, he defeated world number 13 Martin Gould in a 5–0 whitewash in the opening round of the 2016 China Open before losing 2–5 to Graeme Dott. Ian Burns (snooker Player)
Ian Burns (born 11 March 1985) is an English professional snooker player. Burns turned professional in 2012 after qualifying in his first attempt of the Q School and gained a two-year tour card for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 snooker seasons. He won four matches in the event, concluding with a 4–3 victory over veteran Rod Lawler to seal his card.
