2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Men's 60 Metres
The men's 60 metres at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 18, 2016. Asafa Powell has spent a career where he was (until the advent of Usain Bolt), the fastest man in the world, but championships have evaded him. In the opening heats, most athletes try to get to the next round without fully extending themselves. Powell ran his opening heat in 6.44, just .05 off the world record, making him the fifth-fastest athlete in history. More impressive, he noticeably eased up ten meters away from the finish line. It was the Jamaican National Record and the world leading time for 2016. In the semi-final round, Powell repeated the performance with exactly the same time. In the final, that speed wasn't there, instead Trayvon Bromell led from the first step out of the blocks and nobody could catch him. The Oregon Convention Center is a convention center in Portland, Oregon. Completed in 1989 and opened in 1990, it is located on the east side of the Willamette River in the Lloyd District neighborhood. James Dasaolu (born 5 September 1987) is a retired British track and field athlete who specialised in the 100 metres. He was the 2014 European champion over the distance. In July 2013, he became the second fastest Briton of all time after running a 100 m time of 9.91 seconds in the British Championships. Churandy Thomas Martina (born 3 July 1984) is a Dutch sprinter from Curaçao, currently representing the Netherlands. Previously, he represented the Netherlands Antilles until its dissolution in 2010. His personal best time over 100 metres is 9.91 seconds, a Dutch record, achieved in a 2012 London Olympic Games semi-final. Mobolade Ajomale
Mobolade Abimbola Ajomale (born 31 August 1995) is a Canadian sprinter. He competed in the 60 metres event at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He won a bronze medal as part Canada's 2016 Olympic team in the 4 x 100 m relay. Ajomale was part of the 4 x 100 m relay team, they finished third in their heats. In the final the team came agonizingly close to a medal and replaced Ajomale with Andre de Grasse. The team was an agonizingly close 0.02 seconds behind the third place United States team. However, the USA team was later disqualified for an improper baton pass, handing the bronze to Canada and Brown who ran the final as a team with anchor De Grasse, Brendon Rodney, Akeem Haynes, and Aaron Brown. Kemar Hyman (born 11 October 1989) is a Caymanian sprinter of Jamaican descent. He graduated from Florida State University with an Economic Degree. Whilst competing for Florida State University he became the 2012 ACC indoor and outdoor champion and placed third at the 2012 indoor NCAA championships. Antoine Xavier Adams (born 31 August 1988) is a Saint Kitts and Nevis sprinter who specialises in the 200 metres. Adams helped win a bronze medal as a part of the 4 × 100 m relay team at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
