2016 Ford EcoBoost 400
The 2016 Ford EcoBoost 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race held on November 20, 2016, at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Contested over 268 laps – extended from 267 laps due to an overtime finish, on the 1.5 mile (2.4 km) oval, it was the 36th and final race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Jimmie Johnson won the race, and with it his seventh career Cup championship, tying him with Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for most Cup championships of all time. It also marked the final race for Sprint as the series sponsor, having been the Cup Series’ title sponsor since 2008, after buying out Nextel in late 2005. The Dixie Vodka 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race held at Homestead–Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The inaugural race was held in 1999 and was the final race in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2002 until 2019, as well as the final race of the NASCAR Cup Series' NASCAR Cup Series playoffs from 2004 to 2019. As the season finale, it was also part of the Ford Championship Weekend, which consisted of two other races, the Ford EcoBoost 200 for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the Ford EcoBoost 300 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The race is contested over 267 laps, 400.5 miles (644.542 km). Kyle Larson is the defending winner of the event. In 2020, the race was moved to March after the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, meaning it no longer served as a championship race as the fall race at Phoenix Raceway took that slot. Jayski's Silly Season Site is a web site focusing primarily on NASCAR news and rumors. The website was founded by Jay "Jayski" Adamczyk in 1996 after he had difficulty finding news regarding the Melling Racing team, and subsequently worked to get all NASCAR news grouped together on the site. The site was purchased from Adamczyk by ESPN in 2007; after ESPN shut the site down in January 2019, Adamczyk reacquired the rights to Jayski-related properties in April 2019 and rolled out a limited version of the new website with a full launch occurring on May 13, 2019. Carl Michael Edwards II (born August 15, 1979) is an American former professional stock car racing driver. The 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was the 60th season of professional stock car racing in the United States and the 37th modern-era Cup season.
