2016 Florida Tech Panthers Football Team
The 2016 Florida Tech Panthers football team represented the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) during the 2016 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by head coach Steve Englehart, who was in his fourth season at Florida Tech. The Panthers play their home games at Florida Tech Panther Stadium, approximately one mile from the Florida Tech campus and are members of the Gulf South Conference. Schedule Florida Tech announced its 2016 football schedule on February 17, 2016. The schedule consists of 5 home and 6 away games in the regular season. Steve Englehart (American Football)
Steve Englehart (born April 11, 1977) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, a position he has held since 2022. He was previously the first and only head coach at the Florida Institute of Technology, serving from program's inception in 2013 to its dissolution in 2019. Englehart was also the head football coach at Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2009 and an assistant coach at Indiana State University from 2010 to 2012. Personal life Englehart was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Steve Englehart and his wife, Debbie. Steve graduated from Terre Haute North High School and later married Carrie May on May 13, 2000. Clinton is a city in Laurens County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 8,490 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville– Mauldin– Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area. Barron Stadium is a 6,500-seat football field and track & field stadium in Rome, Georgia. It is home to the Shorter University Hawks and Rome High School Wolves football teams. The facility hosted the NAIA Football National Championship from 2008-13 and the NCCAA Victory Bowl in 2013-14, as well as the NCCAA track championships from 2014-16. The Shorter Hawks are the athletic teams that represent Shorter University, located in Rome, Georgia, in intercollegiate sports at the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
