The 2016 season was FC Kansas City's fourth season. The team competes in the National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's soccer in the United States. FC Kansas City was an American professional women's soccer club based in Kansas City, Missouri. The team was one of the eight founding clubs of the National Women's Soccer League in 2012, and began play in 2013. They were two-time NWSL champions, having won titles in 2014 and 2015. After the 2017 season, the NWSL re-acquired owner Elam Baer's membership interest and subsequently ceased the team's operations. Heather Ann O'Reilly (born January 2, 1985) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Irish club Shelbourne of the Women's National League. She played for the United States women's national soccer team (USWNT), with whom she won three Olympic gold medals and a FIFA Women's World Cup. Desiree Rose Marie Scott (born 31 July 1987) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a midfielder for National Women's Soccer League club Kansas City Current and the Canadian national team. Nicknamed "the destroyer", she won gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, which was her third Olympic medal following bronze medals in 2012 in London and in 2016 in Rio. Amanda Christine Laddish (born May 13, 1992) is an American retired soccer player. Early life Laddish was raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri, where she attended Lee's Summit High School where she played for the varsity soccer team. In 2009, she was named a Parade All-American, ESPN/RISE second-team All-American, and all-state selection. She was an NSCAA youth/high school all-region selection in 2008 and 2009. Caroline Allison Kastor (born October 12, 1991) is an American retired soccer player, who played for FC Kansas City in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Early life Caroline is the youngest of five children to parents Tina Bennett-Kastor and Frank Kastor. She attended Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, Kansas, where she played on the varsity soccer team for four years and scored 108 goals with 37 assists. Kastor was named to the first team all-state, all-region, all-metro and all-city during her junior and senior years. She was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year the same years. Sydney Rae Leroux (; born May 7, 1990) is a professional soccer player and Olympic gold medalist who currently plays as a forward for Angel City FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Yael Averbuch West (born Yael Friedman Averbuch; November 3, 1986) is a former American professional soccer player. She was formerly the executive director of the National Women's Soccer League Players Association and is the current general manager of NJ/NY Gotham FC.
