2016 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 31st European Championships in Women's Artistic Gymnastics Seniors and Juniors was held from 1 to 5 June 2016, at the PostFinance-Arena in Bern, Switzerland. It was the first time the city had hosted a major female international competition (it hosted the 1975 Men's European Gymnastics Championships), and was the first time Switzerland hosted the competition in the country. Venue The competition was held at the PostFinance-Arena. Formerly the Bern Arena, it houses the home games of National League A ice hockey team SC Bern. Built in 1967, the arena has a capacity of just over 17,000 spectators – this makes it one of the largest arenas to host the competition. Ellie Downie
Elissa Rebecca "Ellie" Downie (born 20 July 1999) is a retired artistic gymnast who has represented Great Britain. She is the all-around 2017 European gymnastics champion, the first gymnast to win a major all-around title for Great Britain. The younger sister of double European champion Becky Downie, Downie first came to prominence as an outstanding junior gymnast at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, winning four medals. At the age of 15, she became the first British woman to win an individual all-around medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, with a bronze in 2015. Later that year, she was part of the team that won Britain's first global team medal, a bronze, at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Uliana Perebinosova
Uliana Sergeyevna Perebinosova (russian: Улья́на Серге́евна Перебино́сова; born 4 May 2001) is a Russian artistic gymnast and the 2020 Russian National Champion. She was part of the team that won gold in the team competition at the 2018 European Championships. Career 2018 In 2018, Perebinosova was named to Russia’s team for the European championships alongside Irina Alexeeva, Aliya Mustafina, Angelina Simakova, and Lilia Akhaimova. She was sent as a specialist, competing solely on the uneven bars. She qualified to the bars final in third after a successful qualification routine. Anastasia Ilyankova
Anastasia Andreyevna Ilyankova ( rus, Анастасия Андреевна Ильянкова, , ɐnəstɐˈsʲiɪ̯ə ɪlʲɪ̯ɪnˈkovə, born 12 January 2001) is a Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic silver medalist and 2019 European champion on the uneven bars. Junior career Ilyankova competed at the 2014 L'International Gymnix, where Russia won the team gold medal. She won two gold medals in uneven bars and balance beam at the 2016 European Junior Championships. Elena Vyacheslavovna Eremina (russian: Елена Вячеславовна Ерёмина, pron. ''Yelena Vyacheslavovna Yeryomina'', born 29 July 2001) is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. Cătălina Ponor
Cătălina Ponor (; born 20 August 1987) is a Romanian former artistic gymnast who competed at three Olympiads: 2004, 2012, and 2016. She won three gold medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens on balance beam, floor and as part of the Romanian team. She also earned a silver medal on floor and bronze medal as part of the Romanian team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, as well as multiple World Championship and European Championship medals. Giulia Steingruber
Giulia Steingruber (born 24 March 1994) is a retired Swiss artistic gymnast. She is the 2016 Olympic and 2017 World bronze medalist on vault. Additionally she is the 2015 European all-around champion, a four-time European vault champion (2013, 2014, 2016, and 2021) and the 2016 European floor exercise champion. Alison Lepin (born 22 June 2000 in Romorantin-Lanthenay) is a French artistic gymnast. She was a member of the team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships. Early life Alison Lepin began gymnastics at the age of 9 at a club in Romorantin after doing figure skating. At the age of 11, Alison joined Avoine Beaumont Gymnastics, where she still trains. Loan Válerie His (born 10 April 1999) is a retired French artistic gymnast. She represented France at the 2016 Summer Olympics and helped the French team finish eleventh. Marine Brevet (born 23 November 1994, in Viriat) is a former French artistic gymnast. She was a member of the team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships. She is the 2018 Mediterranean Games champion, the 2016 European silver medalist and the 2018 European bronze medalist on the balance beam.
