The 2016 European Badminton Championships were the 25th tournament of the European Badminton Championships. They were held in La Roche-sur-Yon, France, from 26 April–1 May 2016. Sara Thygesen
Sara Thygesen (born 20 January 1991) is a Danish badminton player, specializing in doubles. She started playing badminton at Gårslev in 2002. She got an award for the best female athlete of the year 2007 in her hometown Fredericia. In 2014, she joined the Denmark national badminton team, then in 2015, she won a gold medal at the European Games with her partner in the mixed doubles Niclas Nøhr. Career Thygesen competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics partnering Maiken Fruergaard. Her pace at the Games was stopped in the group stage after placing 4th in the group C standings. Maiken Fruergaard Sørensen (born 11 May 1995) is a Danish badminton player, specializing in doubles play. As a junior player, she was the gold medalists at the 2013 European Junior Championships in the team and mixed doubles events, and in 2014, she entered the national team. Samantha Barning (born 28 June 1989) is a Dutch badminton player. She can play either in singles or in doubles. She won bronze medals at the 2014 European Badminton Championships, 2014 European Championships in the mixed doubles with Jorrit de Ruiter, and at the 2016 European Badminton Championships, 2016 European Championships in the women's doubles with Iris Tabeling. Selena Piek
Selena Piek (born 30 September 1991) is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her current partner is Cheryl Seinen for women's doubles and Robin Tabeling for mixed doubles. She won the 2014 and 2015 editions of Dutch National Badminton Championships with Eefje Muskens. Chris Langridge
Christopher Phillip Langridge (born 2 May 1985) is a retired British badminton player. He competed for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won three medals. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal in the men's doubles, partnered with Marcus Ellis. They also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 European Games. Early life and education Chris Langridge was born on 2 May 1985 in Epsom, Surrey. Langridge was educated at Therfield School, a state comprehensive school in the town of Leatherhead in Surrey in southern England. The school were twice National Schools champions. Langridge was introduced to badminton when he was ten by his teacher Jackie Cunningham who was a badminton coach of the county, and within 18 months at the age of twelve he made the England team. Marcus Ellis
Marcus Ellis (born 14 September 1989) is a British badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion in the English National Championships. Ellis and Chris Langridge won a bronze medal in the men's doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, also gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Vladimir Alexandrovich Ivanov (russian: Владимир Александрович Иванов; born 3 July 1987) is a Russian badminton player. He was the champion at the 2014 and 2021 European Championships, and also the 2016 All England Open partnering with Ivan Sozonov.
