2016 Colorado Buffaloes Football Team
The 2016 Colorado Buffaloes football team represented the University of Colorado Boulder during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Mike MacIntyre, they played their home games on-campus at Folsom Field in Boulder and were members of the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 10–4, 8–1 in Pac-12 play to win their first Pac-12 South Division Title. They represented the South Division in the 2016 Pac-12 Football Championship Game where they lost to Washington. They were invited to the Alamo Bowl where they lost to Oklahoma State. Mike MacIntyre
George Michael MacIntyre (born March 14, 1965) is an American football coach. He is the head coach at FIU Panthers football, FIU. MacIntyre served as the head football coach at San Jose State University from 2010 to 2013 and the University of Colorado Boulder from 2013 to 2018. MacIntyre began his coaching career in 1990 as a graduate assistant at Georgia Bulldogs football, Georgia. From 1992 to 2002, MacIntyre held various assistant coaching positions at Davidson Wildcats football, Davidson, UT Martin Skyhawks football, UT Martin, Temple Owls football, Temple, and Ole Miss. Klayton Adams (born February 13, 1983) is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado Boulder, San Jose State University, Sacramento State University, Western Washington University, Boise State University, and Indianapolis Colts. The Rocky Mountain Showdown is the name given to the Colorado–Colorado State football rivalry. It is an American college football intrastate rivalry between the University of Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State University Rams; the winner of the game receives the Centennial Cup. It began in 1893 and was played annually from 1899 to 1958, except for 1901, 1905, and 1943–44. It was revived in 1983 and played periodically until it became an annual rivalry once again from 1995 to 2019. Two human polls and a committee's selections comprised the 2016 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football rankings, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Unlike most sports, college football's governing body, the NCAA, does not bestow a national championship, instead that title is bestowed by one or more different polling agencies.
