2016 California Golden Bears Football Team
The 2016 California Golden Bears football team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bears were led by fourth-year head coach Sonny Dykes and played their home games at Memorial Stadium. Shortly after the conclusion of the 2015 season, Dykes stated that he did not anticipate any staff turnover. However, offensive coordinator Tony Franklin resigned from his position at California a few weeks after Dykes made this statement. Franklin left to take up the same position at Middle Tennessee State, citing a desire to move closer to his family in Kentucky. Sonny Dykes
Daniel "Sonny" Dykes (born November 9, 1969) is an American football coach, and a former college baseball player. He is currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University (TCU), and previously served in the same role at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2018 to 2021, the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016, and Louisiana Tech University from 2010 to 2012. He led Texas Christian University (TCU) to the semifinal and the championship of the college football playoff in his first year as the Texas Christian University (TCU) head coach. Dykes, the youngest son of former Texas Tech head coach Spike Dykes, began his career as a high school baseball and football coach in Texas. Ross Bowers (American Football)
Ross Buchanan Bowers (born November 19, 1996) is an American football quarterback. Early years Bowers attended Bothell High School in Bothell, Washington. His father, John, was an assistant coach for James Madison Dukes football, James Madison football between 2013 and 2016. His mother, Joanne, spent ten seasons as the head women's gymnastics coach for the Washington Huskies between 2006 and 2016. The LIU Post Pioneers (also Long Island–Post Pioneers and formerly the C.W. Post Pioneers) were the athletic teams that represented the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, located in Brookville, New York, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports through the 2018–19 school year. John Lovett (born December 1, 1950) is an American football coach He was the defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) from 2013–2014. He was the defensive coordinator for Maine in 1994, Auburn from 1999–2001, Clemson from 2002–2004, Bowling Green from 2005–2006, and Miami from 2009–2010. Garret Chachere (born March 17, 1969) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the running backs coach at Western Kentucky. Playing career Chachere is an alumnus of the Tulane University and played football at the school from 1987 to 1988.
