2016 CWHL Draft
The 2016 draft for the Canadian Women's Hockey League took place on August 21, 2016. Players must register before midnight on August 1, 2016 and pay an entry fee of CDN $150. By virtue of finishing with the worst record during the 2015-16 CWHL regular season, the Boston Blades selected first overall. Of note, it signified the first time that the Blades ever held the first pick overall in the history of the CWHL Draft. Following the Blades with the second pick overall shall be the Toronto Furies. The Furies cross-town rivals, the Brampton Thunder have the third pick overall. Despite having finished with the best regular season record, Les Canadiennes de Montreal shall select fourth overall while the defending Clarkson Cup champion Calgary Inferno shall select fifth overall. Kayla Tutino
Kayla Tutino (born December 18, 1992) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player. Having played at the NCAA level with the Boston University Terriers women's ice hockey program, she was the first overall selection in the 2016 CWHL Draft, claimed by the Boston Blades. In 2017, Tutino was traded to the Les Canadiennes de Montréal. In 2018, Tutino announced her reitrment from professional hockey. Playing career NCAA During her time with the Boston University Terriers, the program would win four consecutive Hockey East championships (2012–15). The 2012 CWHL Draft was held on July 14, 2012 in Mississauga. Team Alberta held the first overall pick for the first time in franchise history. 2010 CWHL Draft
On August 12, the Canadian Women's Hockey League hosted the 2010 CWHL Draft. The event was held at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto at 7:00pm. The first overall selection was former Ohio State Buckeyes women's ice hockey, Ohio State hockey player and Olympic gold medallist Tessa Bonhomme. Former Olympic gold medallist Cheryl Pounder was Master of Ceremonies at the draft. Rules All five teams were allowed to protect five players who had played at least one year in the league. Only players from the Greater Toronto Area were available in the draft for teams from Toronto, Burlington and Brampton. Boston and Montreal did not draft players. Jessica Platt
Jessica Platt (born May 8, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player with the PWHPA and an advocate for transgender rights. She played for the Toronto Furies in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) and was the first transgender woman to play in the now defunct CWHL. Career Platt was drafted into the Canadian Women's Hockey League in 2016 in the 61st overall pick and was invited to play four games for the Toronto Furies in the 2016–17 season when another player was injured. During the following season she played full-time. Early life and transition Platt spent her childhood in Brights Grove, Ontario, and attended a Catholic secondary school for which she played hockey. Carlee Eusepi
Carlee Eusepi-Campbell (born October 23, 1988) is a Canadian-born women's ice hockey player. Currently a member of the Toronto Furies, Campbell was the captain for Team White in the 3rd CWHL All-Star Game. The Buffalo Beauts are a professional ice hockey team based in Amherst, New York, United States. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), originally named the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). York Lions Women's Ice Hockey
The York Lions women's ice hockey team represents York University in Toronto, Ontario in the sport of ice hockey in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports. The York Lions have won three OUA championships in their program history while making one appearance in the U Sports women's ice hockey championship tournament since its inception in 1998. RIT Tigers Women's Ice Hockey
The RIT Tigers women's ice hockey team is one of two hockey teams representing Rochester Institute of Technology in suburban Rochester, New York. The team moved to NCAA Division I women's ice hockey as a member of College Hockey America after many years at Division III as part of the ECAC West conference. The Bruce B. Western Mustangs Women's Ice Hockey
The Western Mustangs women's ice hockey team represents the University of Western Ontario Western Mustangs and competes in the Ontario University Athletics conference, which participates nationally in the U Sports athletic program. The Mustangs play at Thompson Arena in London, Ontario.
