2016 CS Ondrej Nepela Memorial
The 2016 CS Ondrej Nepela Memorial ( sk, Memoriál Ondreja Nepelu) was held on September and October 2016. It is an annual senior international figure skating competition held in Bratislava, Slovakia. It was part of the 2016–17 ISU Challenger Series. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition returned to the name ''Ondrej Nepela Memorial'' after three years as the ''Ondrej Nepela Trophy''. The committee which organized the event in the previous seven years and which has a trademark on Ondrej Nepela Trophy was suspended by the Slovak Figure Skating Association and replaced by another organizing team. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. Ice Dancing
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Michaela Lucie Hanzlíková (born 29 October 1999) is a Czech figure skater. She is the 2017 Czech national champion and has competed in the final segment at two ISU Championships. Eliška Březinová (born 19 February 1996) is a Czech figure skater. She is the 2019 EduSport Trophy champion, the 2014 New Year's Cup champion, the 2015 Santa Claus Cup champion, a two-time Four Nationals champion (2014, 2018), and a nine-time Czech national champion (2012, 2014–2016, 2018–2022). Dmitre Razgulajevs (born November 19, 1996) is a Canadian ice dancer, who currently competes with Molly Lanaghan. With his former partner Mackenzie Bent, he was the 2016 Canadian national junior champion and finished in the top ten at the 2016 World Junior Championships. Mackenzie Bent (born June 11, 1997) is a Canadian ice dancer. With partner Dmitre Razgulajevs, she is the 2016 Canadian junior champion. With former partner Garrett MacKeen, she is the 2014 Canadian junior champion and finished 5th at two World Junior Championships. Kevin Reynolds (born July 23, 1990) is a retired Canadian figure skater. He is the 2013 Four Continents champion, 2010 Four Continents bronze medallist, 2014 Winter Olympics team silver medallist and a six-time Canadian national medallist (2012–14, 2017 silver; 2010, 2016 bronze).
