2016 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 Big East men's basketball tournament, officially known as the 2016 Big East tournament, was a tournament held from March 9–12, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Big East Championship game returned to broadcast television for the first time in over twenty years and was televised on FOX. Seton Hall won their first Big East tournament since 1993 and received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds All 10 Big East schools participate in the tournament. Teams were seeded by the 2015–16 Big East Conference season record. The top 6 teams received a first round bye. Seeding for the tournament was determined at the close of the regular conference season. Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or by its initials MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. Dave Gavitt
David Roy Gavitt (October 26, 1937 – September 16, 2011) was an American college basketball coach and athletic director at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He was also well known as the first commissioner of the Big East Conference and as part of the committee which created the 1992 Olympic basketball "Dream Team". Coaching career Raised in Westerly, Rhode Island and Peterborough, New Hampshire, Gavitt graduated from Dartmouth College in 1959, where he was a member of the 1959–1960 varsity basketball team, the last Dartmouth basketball team to win the Ivy League championship. While an undergraduate at Dartmouth in 1958, Gavitt played summer collegiate baseball for the Orleans Cardinals of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Trevon Nykee Bluiett (; born November 5, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza of the Polish Basketball League. He played college basketball for the Xavier Musketeers. High school career Bluiett attended Park Tudor School. At the school, Bluiett won three IHSAA state titles. Bluiett won two of his three state IHSAA titles with LA Clippers point guard Yogi Ferrell. Khadeen Carrington (born October 3, 1995) is a Trinidadian-American basketball player for Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the Basketball Champions League (BCL). He played college basketball for Seton Hall. The son of former professional soccer player and coach Reynold Carrington, he starred at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, New York. Ryan Curran Arcidiacono ( ; born March 26, 1994) is an Italian-American professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
