2016 Badminton Asia Junior Championships
The 2016 Badminton Asia Junior Championships is the 19th edition of the Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament was held in Bangkok, Thailand, between 9 and 17 July 2016. The championships consists of mixed team and individual events. There were 19 countries with over 250 players participating in this edition. Venue This tournament was held at CPB Badminton and Sports Science Training Center. Seed The defending champion, China, was the top seeds in the mixed team event followed by Thailand and Indonesia. In the individual event, The host country Thai boys' Kantaphon Wangcharoen, and girls' Pornpawee Chochuwong were the top seeds. Han Chengkai (, born 29 January 1998) is a Chinese badminton player. He won the boys' doubles title at the 2016 Asian and World Junior Championships. Han also part of the Chinese team that won the 2019 Tong Yun Kai and Sudirman Cups. Together with his partner Zhou Haodong, he was awarded as the 2018 Most Promising Player of the Year by the BWF. He announced his retirement at the age of 23 after competed at the National Games on 13 September 2021. Pattarasuda Chaiwan
Lalinrat Chaiwan ( th, ลลินรัตน์ ไชยวรรณ; born Pattarasuda Chaiwan ( th, ภัทรสุดา ไชยวรรณ), 21 February 2001) is a Thai badminton player. She has shown her talent as a badminton player in the junior event tournament. She changed her first name to Phittayaporn ( th, พิทยาภรณ์) after visiting a temple for prayers for a brighter career in badminton. She was crowned champion at the Grand Prix junior tournament in 2017 India and 2018 German, also occupied the girls' singles number 1 in the BWF World Junior Ranking. Born in Lampang Province, Chaiwan was the silver medalist at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, where she was before won the Junior U–15 Championships in 2015, and U–17 in 2016. Gao Fangjie
Gao Fangjie (; ; born 29 September 1998) is a Chinese badminton player from Nanjing, Jiangsu. She was part of the Chinese junior team to win the gold medals at the 2015, and 2016 World Junior; and also at the 2016 Asia Junior Championships. In 2016 Asia, she won the bronze medal in the girls' singles event. Gao was the runner-up in the senior tournament at the 2016 China International Challenge. Natsuki Nidaira
is a Japanese badminton player. In the national event, she play for the Tonami Transportation. Career Nidaira came from the Mito, Ibaraki, and started playing badminton at aged five. Since the elementary school she has won several national championships, and in 2009, she joined the Japanese junior team. In 2013, she competed at the U-17 Asian Junior Championships, and won the girls' singles gold. After graduating from high school, she joined the Tonami Transportation team. Nidaira was part of the Japanese U-19 team, that won the mixed team bronze medal at the 2014, 2016 World Junior Championships, and in the girls' singles event in 2015. She also won the mixed team bronze at the 2015 and 2016 Asian Junior Championships. Nidaira made a debut in the senior event in 2015, and at the 2016 Korea Masters, a Grand Prix Gold tournament, she finished in the semifinals round, lose to host player Lee Jang-mi in the straight games. Gregoria Mariska
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Cahyaningsih (born 11 August 1999) is an Indonesian badminton player who plays in the singles event. Her club is PB. Mutiara Cardinal in Bandung, West Java, and entered the national team in 2013. She won the girls' singles title at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Tunjung also featured in the Indonesian women's winning team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships. Career In 2014, Tunjung reached the final of the Malaysia International. En route to the final, she had to start from the qualifying round, then beat the first seed Aprilia Yuswandari. Unfortunately, in the final round she was defeated by Chen Jiayuan in straight game. Chen Yufei
Chen Yufei (; born 1 March 1998) is a Chinese badminton player. She is the reigning Olympic champion. She won the girls' singles junior titles at the 2016 Asian and the World Junior Championships. At the same year, Chen clinched her first senior title at the Macau Open. She was awarded as the 2017 Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of the Year. On 17 December 2019, she reached a career-high BWF World Ranking as world number 1. Career 2014–2016 Chen Yufei started playing in international level from the year 2013, being aged only 15.
