Australian Handball Club Championship
Handball Australia hosts two separate national club championships. The first is a Beach Handball nationals competition and the second is the Australia Handball Club Championships featuring the state champions for Handball. The winner of the Handball Club Championships qualifies to represent Australia in the Oceania Handball Champions Cup. The inaugural winner of the Handball Club Championships competition was New South Wales based Sydney Uni over Victorian based St Kilda HC. The tournament was held at Sydney Olympic Park and featured teams from New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. The inaugural winners of the beach competition for men was won by the East Melbourne Spartans from Victoria. 2016 Oceania Beach Handball Championship
The 2016 Oceania Beach Handball Championship was held at Coolangatta Beach, Queensland, Australia between February 24 and 28, 2016. There were two divisions, men's and women's with only Australia and New Zealand entering. In the men's draw, defending champions Australia were pushed all the way by New Zealand winning in the end two sets to one. In the women's draw, Australia were also the defending champions and won two sets to nill. 2016 Oceania Handball Champions Cup
The 2016 Oceania Handball Champions Cup was held at Geelong, Victoria between June 2–5, 2016 in conjunction with the 2016 Australian Handball Club Championship. In the event has seven teams from Australia and New Caledonia entered. The Australian teams dominated with Sydney University winning their fifth straight title over West Adelaide. Two time runners up St Kilda HC came third from University of Technology Sydney in fourth. Surprise packet Wolves HC consisting of mainly of the Australian Junior team players finished fifth, with Olympique de Nouméa sixth and Deakin University seventh. Handball Competitions In Australia
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a Handball goalkeeper, goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it.
