2016 AIK Fotboll Season
The 2016 season was AIK's 125th in existence, their 88th season in Allsvenskan and their 11th consecutive season in the league. The team competed in Allsvenskan, Svenska Cupen and UEFA Europa League. Season events Prior to the start of the season, AIK announced the signing of Daniel Sundgren from Degerfors on a contract until the end of 2019, the return of Eero Markkanen on a contract until the end of 2018. On 4 January, AIK announced the singing of Denni Avdić from AZ Alkmaar to a three-year contract. The following day, 5 January, Amin Affane joined AIK from Arminia Bielefeld. On 7 January, AIK announced the signing of Ahmed Yasin from AGF on a two-year contract. On 4 August, AIK announced the singing of free-agent Chinedu Obasi to a short-term contract. AIK Fotboll (), more commonly known simply as AIK (), an abbreviation for Allmänna Idrottsklubben (meaning ''the public'' or ''general sports club''), is a Swedish football club competing in Allsvenskan, the top flight of Swedish football. The club was founded 1891 in Stockholm and the football department was formed in 1896. AIK's home ground is Friends Arena, located in Solna, just north of Stockholm City Centre. Degerfors IF is a Swedish football club located in Degerfors. The club, formed 13 January 1907, is currently playing in the highest tier in Swedish football, Allsvenskan. Oscar Carl Linnér (born 23 February 1997) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Allsvenskan club IF Brommapojkarna. He has represented the Sweden national team. Kyriakos Stamatopoulos
Kyriakos Stamatopoulos (born 28 August 1979) is a Greek Canadian former football goalkeeper who is the head goalkeeper coach for AIK. He is nicknamed "Stam" () and he is also often referred to as Kenny Stamatopoulos. Early life Stamatopoulos moved with his family from Greece to Ontario when he was a small child. John Chibuike
John Chibuike (born 10 October 1988) is a Nigerian footballer who played as a secondary striker. Career Starting his career in Enugu Rangers and made the senior team in the 2008-2009 season, in 2009 prior to the start of Allsvenskan he was bought by BK Häcken. Mainly being used as a defender by Rangers, after his arrival in Häcken he has been used more as a midfielder. John Chibuike had a quite soft start in BK Häcken, but soon spectators around the venues saw that he had something extra. During his first season – 2010 he played as a midfielder and showed both good defensive and offensive skills and specially a good vision and technique. Chinedu Obasi
Chinedu Ogbuke "Edu" Obasi (born 1 June 1986) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward. Club career Lyn Born in Enugu, Nigeria, Obasi started his football career at River Lane Youth Club Enugu and JC Raiders in his homeland country. Obasi went to Norway at the same time as his countryman Mikel John Obi; both players joined Lyn. It was disputed that Obasi signed for Lyn in 2004, but this was rejected by FIFA which ordered both Obasi and Ezekiel Bala returned to Lyn with immediate effect. Obasi made his Lyn debut, in the opening game of the season, where he played 66 minutes, in a 1–1 draw against Fredrikstad. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ), is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark.
