2016 AFC Cup Knock-out Stage
The 2016 AFC Cup knockout stage was played from 24 May to 5 November 2016. A total of 16 teams competed in the knockout stage to decide the champions of the 2016 AFC Cup. Qualified teams The winners and runners-up of each of the eight groups in the group stage qualified for the knockout stage. Both West Zone and East Zone had eight qualified teams. Format In the knockout stage, the 16 teams played a single-elimination tournament, with the teams split between the two zones until the final. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, each tie was played on a home-and-away two-legged basis, while in the round of 16 and final, each tie was played as a single match. 2016 AFC Cup
The 2016 AFC Cup was the 13th edition of the AFC Cup, Asia's secondary club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya defeated Bengaluru FC in the final to win their first AFC Cup title, becoming the first Iraqi team to win the competition. Johor Darul Ta'zim were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Bengaluru FC. Association team allocation The AFC Competitions Committee proposed a revamp of the AFC club competitions on 25 January 2014, which was ratified by the AFC Executive Committee on 16 April 2014. Bengaluru Football Club () is an Indian professional football club based in Bangalore, Karnataka. The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Indian football. Abdelrazaq Al-Hussain
Abdelrazaq Al Hussain ( ar, عبد الرزاق الحسين; born 15 September 1986, in Aleppo) is a Syrian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ansar and the Syria national team. Career Club career Al Hussain's career began in the youth system of Al-Hurriya before starting his professional career with the senior team. He moved to Syrian League club Al-Jaish in 2006. Abbas Ali Atwi
Abbas Ali Atwi ( ar, عباس علي عطوي; born 15 December 1984), also known as Onika ( ar, أونيكا, links=no, also spelled Unica), is a Lebanese football coach and former player who is team manager of club Bourj. Club career Atwi joined Bourj's youth team aged 14; he made his senior debut in the Lebanese Second Division in 2000, in a 4–3 defeat against Ahed. Atwi moved to Lebanese Premier League side Olympic Beirut in 2002, with whom he won the domestic double (league and cup) in his first season. In 2005 Atwi signed for Ahed. He scored 58 league goals and won five league titles in 12 years at the club. Atwi joined Ansar in 2017, helping them win their first league title in 14 years in 2021. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Extra Time (association Football)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament.
