2015–16 Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represented Vanderbilt University in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was Kevin Stallings' 17th and final year as the Vanderbilt head coach. The Commodores played their home games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 19–14, 11–7 in SEC play to finish in a three way tie for third place. They lost in the second round of the SEC tournament to Tennessee. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the First Four to Wichita State. On March 27, 2017, head coach Kevin Stallings resigned to become the head coach at Pittsburgh. Kevin Stallings
Kevin E. Stallings (born October 1, 1960) is a former American basketball coach, who formerly served as the head coach at Illinois State University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an assistant coach at Purdue University and the University of Kansas. Playing career Stallings was born in Collinsville, Illinois. He graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois in 1978, where he played guard (6'5", 190 lbs.) for four years under legendary coach Vergil Fletcher and won three conference championships. The Kahoks went 30–1 his junior season and lost to De La Salle in the first round of the Illinois state tournament, 67–66. The 2014–15 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal, led by seventh year head coach Johnny Dawkins, played their home games at Maples Pavilion and were members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 24–13, 9–9 in Pac-12 play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament where they lost to Utah. They were invited to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated UC Davis, Rhode Island, Vanderbilt, Old Dominion, and Miami (FL) to become NIT Champions. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. Knott County Central High School
Knott County Central High School is a high school located in Hindman, Kentucky. It is home to the Knott County Central Patriots, who have claimed several regional titles in basketball, baseball, track, and other sports. History The school was founded in 1974 by a consolidation of three smaller county schools: Hindman High School, Carr Creek High School (both state basketball champions), and Knott County High School. This made the first graduating class, the class of 1975. At this time the school was not equipped with the space for a baseball team nor a football team. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. Djery Baptiste
Djery Jean Baptiste ; born 12 November 1995) is a Haitian basketball player. He played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores and the UMass Minutemen. Early life and high school career Baptiste was born in Gonaïves, Haiti to Hebert Jean Baptiste and Wislonde Destin. He arrived in the United States when he was 15 years old. Baptiste attended the Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas and won two consecutive state championships the two years he was there. At the end of his senior year, he was named Defensive Player of the Year by his team. He was named All-Area Honorable Mention by the Dallas Morning News. College career Baptiste chose to play at Vanderbilt for academic reasons, despite receiving multiple offers from other schools. Baptiste departed from the team in June 2018 to focus on his studies.
