The 2016 Santosh Trophy was the 70th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition in Indian football. The qualifiers for the tournament took place from 6 February and the final of the tournament proper was held in Nagpur from 13 March 2016. Services Football Team
The Services football team is an Indian football team representing the Indian Armed Forces in Indian state football competitions. It is operated by the Services Sports Control Board. Santosh Trophy Services have appeared in the final of the Santosh Trophy ten times, and have won it six times. The team won their first Santosh Trophy in 1960–61 by beating Bengal 1–0 in the final. Since then, they have won the tournament another four times – 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Their latest win came at the 2018–19 Santosh Trophy in Ludhiana, where they beat Punjab 1–0 in the final. West Bengal Football Team
The West Bengal football team (Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ফুটবল দল) is an Indian football team representing West Bengal in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They became the second Indian team to participate in the continental top tier tournament – Asian Champion Club Tournament – by playing in the 1970 edition following Mysore in 1969. History Incorporated in 1893 during the British rule in India, West Bengal have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 45 times, having won 32 titles, the most by any team.
