2015–16 Oberliga Westfalen
The 2015–16 season of the Oberliga Westfalen, the highest association football league in the Westphalia region of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, was the fourth season of the league at tier five (V) of the German football league system and the 34th season overall since establishment of the league in 1978. The league went defunct from 2008 to 2012, when it was re-established. The season began on 14 August 2015 and finished on 29 May 2016. Standings The league featured four new clubs for the 2015–16 season with TSV Marl-Hüls promoted as champions of the Westfalenliga I, SC Paderborn 07 II as champions of the Westfalenliga II and SV Schermbeck in the promotion round of the Westfalenliga runners-up while Sportfreunde Siegen had been relegated from the Regionalliga West. Oberliga Westfalen
The Oberliga Westfalen is the highest level football league in the region of Westphalia, which is part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The league existed from 1978 to 2008, but was then replaced by the NRW-Liga, a new statewide league. With the reform of the league system in 2012, which reduced the Regionalliga West to clubs from North Rhine-Westphalia only and disbanded the NRW-Liga below it, the Oberliga Westfalen was reintroduced as the highest tier in the region and the fifth level overall in Germany. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. The 2015–16 Regionalliga was the eighth season of the Regionalliga, the fourth under the new format, as the fourth tier of the German football league system. The champions of Regionalliga Nord – SV Werder Bremen II, the champions of the Regionalliga Nordost – 1. FC Magdeburg, and the champions of Regionalliga Bayern – Würzburger Kickers were promoted to the 3. Liga. Borussia Dortmund II, SpVgg Unterhaching and SSV Jahn Regensburg were relegated from 3. Liga. The 2016–17 Regionalliga was the ninth season of the Regionalliga, the fifth under the new format, as the fourth tier of the German football league system. Regionalliga Nord 18 teams from the states of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein competed in the fifth season of the reformed Regionalliga Nord; 15 teams were retained from last season and 3 were promoted from the Oberliga, namely 2015–16 Niedersachsenliga champions Lupo Martini Wolfsburg and promotion round winners SV Eichede, 2015–16 Schleswig-Holstein-Liga champions, and 1. The SuS Stadtlohn (full name: ''Spiel- und Sportverein Stadtlohn 19/20 e.V.'') is the largest sports club in the city of Stadtlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The association was founded in 1919 and has around 2512 members. The soccer department has the most members, followed by the athletics and handball departments. FC Gütersloh 2000 is a German association football club based in Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia. History The club was formed in 1978 out of the merger of the football sides of '' Sport Vereinigung Arminia Gütersloh'' and '' Deutsche Jugendkraft Gütersloh'' in the hopes that the new club would be more successful than its un-storied predecessors. The union was a bit of a surprise because of some ill-will that had existed between the clubs going back to ''Arminia's'' refusal to share their stadium facility with ''DJK'', and so make it possible for them to play in the Regionalliga in the late 1960s. Both sides had bounced back and forth between the second and third division through the late 1960s and into the 1970s.
