2015–16 Minnesota Wild Season
The 2015–16 Minnesota Wild season was the 16th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. Head coach Mike Yeo was relieved of his duties on February 13 after the teams thirteenth loss in fourteen games. He finished with a record of 173–132–44 in his four and a half years as head coach of the Wild. Iowa Wild head coach John Torchetti was promoted to interim head coach. Minnesota was the first team since the 2009–10 Philadelphia Flyers and the 2009–10 Montreal Canadiens to make the playoffs with fewer than 90 points. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The names of conferences and divisions were changed in 1993 to reflect their geographic locations. 2009–10 Montreal Canadiens Season
The 2009–10 Montreal Canadiens season was the team's 101st season of play and 93rd in the National Hockey League (NHL). This season marked the 100th anniversary of the organization's founding in 1909. Coinciding with this, the Montreal Canadiens hosted the 2009 NHL All-Star Game at the Bell Centre on January 25, 2009 as well as the 2009 NHL Entry Draft that June leading up to the centennial anniversary of the franchise on December 4, 2009. 2015–16 Chicago Blackhawks Season
The 2015–16 Chicago Blackhawks season was the 90th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. They entered the season as defending Stanley Cup champions having won the Stanley Cup the previous season, their third championship in six years. The Blackhawks finished the season with 103 points to finish in third place in the Central Division, only six points behind the Western Conference-leading Dallas Stars. They lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the St. Louis Blues in seven games. Patrick Kane led the Blackhawks with 46 goals and 106 points, both career highs. The 2015–16 Anaheim Ducks season was the 23rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 15, 1993. The team's regular season began on October 10, 2015, against the San Jose Sharks. The Ducks battled back from 1–7–2 and 12–15–6 starts to win 46 games and the Pacific Division, but were dispatched in a home playoff Game 7 for the fourth year in a row, as Nashville bested Anaheim in a hard-fought opening-round series. Niklas Bäckström
Niklas Oskar Bäckström (; born 13 February 1978) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey goaltender and current goaltending coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He played ten seasons for the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League (NHL), during which he won both the William M. Jennings Trophy and Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award. He also has won both Urpo Ylönen trophy and Jari Kurri trophy twice. Bäckström is a Swedish-speaking Finn, but also speaks Finnish. Playing career Finland Bäckström won the 1998 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships as a backup goaltender for the Finnish national team, along with players like Olli Jokinen, Niklas Hagman, Mika Noronen, Niko Kapanen, Toni Dahlman and Eero Somervuori.
