Horror is a film genre that seeks to elicit fear or disgust in its audience for entertainment purposes. Horror films often explore dark subject matter and may deal with transgressive topics or themes. Broad elements include monsters, apocalyptic events, and religious or folk beliefs. Cinematic techniques used in horror films have been shown to provoke psychological reactions in an audience. Horror films have existed for more than a century. Early inspirations from before the development of film include folklore, religious beliefs and superstitions of different cultures, and the Gothic and horror literature of authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and Mary Shelley. ''The Blackcoat's Daughter'' (also known as ''February'') is a 2015 supernatural psychological horror film written and directed by Osgood Perkins. is a Japanese model and actress who is based in Taiwan. She is best known for her role as Tomoko in '' Cape No. 7'', the second top-selling film in Taiwanese cinematic history. Wu Kang-ren (; born 24 November 1982), also known as Chris Wu, is a Taiwanese actor and model. He debuted in the short film ''Fragile in Love: Poetry in Motion'' in 2007, and first came to attention for his role in the 2009 television series ''Autumn's Concerto''. Lingo Hsieh
Lingo Hsieh (; born 13 June 1985) is a Taiwanese director and screenwriter. She is known for directing the horror film '' The Bride'', as well as the TV series ''Green Door'', starring Jam Hsiao. Career Hsieh directed her first short film in 2013 titled ''Doppelganger''. In 2014, she directed a short film, ''The Bride'', when still a graduate student at National Taiwan University of Arts. For the film, Hsieh collaborated with Takashige Ichise, director of the ''Ring'', to explore the tradition of ghost marriage. ''Bound to Vengeance'' is a 2015 American horror- thriller film about a woman who escapes her confinement in a basement by a sexual predator. The film had its world premiere on January 23, 2015 at the Sundance Film Festival. Plot The film begins with a man driving his van to an abandoned house in a remote area. He cooks a meal and brings it to the basement, where a girl is being held captive, with her leg chained to the floor. Without him noticing, she pulls out a brick and hits him violently on the head. She searches for the keys, unlocks the chain holding her leg and uses it to chain his leg.
