2015 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship
The 2015 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the 24th edition of the tournament, played from 27 September to 2 October 2015 in Michoacan, Mexico. The United States defeated 3–1 to the Dominican Republic to win the Continental Championship and both qualified, along with Puerto Rico and Canada, to the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier while American Nicole Fawcett earned the Most Valuable Player award. Nicole Fawcett
Nicole Marie Fawcett (born December 16, 1986) is an American indoor volleyball player who won the 2014 World Championship and 2015 Pan American Games gold medal with the United States national team. Fawcett played for Penn State University from 2005–2008, winning two NCAA national championships in 2007 and 2008. During her collegiate career, Fawcett was a four-time All-American and racked up many honors, including the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year in 2008, National Freshman of the Year in 2005, and the Honda Sports Award winner for volleyball in 2008. She played professionally for Gigantes de Carolina (The Carolina Giants) in Liga de Voleibol Superior Femenino, Puerto Rico's pro league in 2009. Kayla Banwarth
Kayla Banwarth (born January 21, 1989) is an American former volleyball player and coach. She played as a libero for the United States women's national volleyball team. Banwarth won gold with the national team at the 2014 World Championship, and bronze at the 2015 World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Early life Banwarth was born in Dubuque, Iowa and attended high school at Wahlert Catholic High School. Her team won three state titles and Banwarth graduated with 1,155 kills, 1,093 digs, and 364 aces. She also set school records for digs and aces. Banwarth was named the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year in 2006. Career She played college volleyball at University of Nebraska. Banwarth was part of the USA national team that won the 2014 World Championship gold medal when the team defeated China 3–1 in the final match. Brenda Castillo
Brenda Castillo (born June 5, 1992, in San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. She played in the 2014 World Championship reaching also the fifth place and ranking 17th in the 2010 World Championship and the 2011 FIVB World Cup where her national team ranked eight and the 2015 FIVB World Cup, winning the Best Libero individual award and ranking in seventh place. The NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA).
