2015 Tour Of The Basque Country
The 2015 Tour of the Basque Country was the 55th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country stage race. It took place from 6 to 11 April and was the ninth race of the 2015 UCI World Tour. The race was won by Joaquim Rodríguez. Schedule Teams As the Tour of the Basque Country was a UCI World Tour event, all 17 UCI WorldTeams were invited automatically and were obliged to send a squad. Two Professional Continental teams received wildcard invitations. 2015 UCI World Tour
The 2015 UCI World Tour was the seventh edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The series started with the opening stage of the 2015 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 20 January, and concluded with 2015 Il Lombardia, Il Lombardia on 4 October. For the second successive year, Spain's Alejandro Valverde won the World Tour individual points title, amassing 675 points over the course of the season. The rider finished 201 points clear of his closest rival and compatriot Joaquim Rodríguez of , while Colombian rider Nairo Quintana was third – also for the – 17 points behind Rodríguez and 218 points in arrears of Valverde. Mikel Landa Meana (born 13 December 1989) is a Spanish professional road cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam . His career breakthrough came at the 2015 Giro d'Italia where he won two stages and finished third overall. Career Early career Landa was born in Murgia (Álava), in the Basque Country in northern Spain. Like many Basque cyclists he began his career at the development team, in 2009, before graduating to the professional team in 2011. After three years with the squad, Landa left the team at the end of the 2013 season – due to its disestablishment – to join . Valerio Agnoli (born 6 January 1985) is an Italian road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Agnoli was one of the key domestiques for the Liquigas cycling team, where he was often instrumental in victories for Ivan Basso and Vincenzo Nibali during the Giro d'Italia. Agnoli had a very successful junior and amateur career, taking victories in many prestigious Italian races, including the famous Giro della Lunigiana. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world.
