2015 Tour Of California
The 2015 Amgen Tour of California was the tenth edition of the Tour of California cycling stage race. It was held from May 10–17, and rated as a UCI race classifications, 2.HC event on the 2015 UCI America Tour, UCI America Tour. It began in Sacramento, California, Sacramento and finished in Pasadena, California, Pasadena. The race's general classification was won by Slovakian Peter Sagan () by three seconds over Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (), the closest winning margin in the race's history. Sagan also won two stages during the race, including the individual time trial. Colombian Sergio Henao () completed the podium. The points classification, sprints competition was won by Briton Mark Cavendish (), who also was the winner of four individual stages. Peter Sagan
Peter Sagan (; born 26 January 1990) is a Slovak professional road bicycle racer who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Sagan had a successful junior cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing career, winning the junior cross-country race at the 2008 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships, before moving to road racing. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Individual time trial are usually held on flat or rolling terrain, although sometimes they are held up a mountain road (in Italian: ''cronoscalata'' "chrono climbing"). It is a snow and rain fed lake, having no other means of tributaries or mechanical replenishment.
