2015 Tour Du Haut Var
The 2015 Tour du Haut Var was the 47th edition of the Tour du Haut Var road cycling stage race, held in the Provence region of France. It was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour, and consisted of two stages over two days, from 21 to 22 February 2015. Historically, the Tour du Haut Var was the third of three early-season French races, following the Étoile de Bessèges and the Tour Méditerranéen, but for the second year running the Tour Méditerranéen was cancelled due to financial problems, so the Tour du Haut Var came after a two-week break in French cycling. The 2015 race was particularly notable for returning to the difficult terrain that had been a feature of the race in its early years. In contrast to most stage races, it favoured classics riders rather than pure climbing specialists, and was seen as excellent preparation for the classics season. Ben Gastauer
Ben Gastauer (born 14 November 1987) is a Luxembourgish former professional road cyclist, who rode professionally for the between 2010 and 2021. He took three professional victories during his career: the Luxembourgish National Time Trial Championships in 2012, and the general classification and a stage at the 2015 Tour du Haut Var. He was part of the squad that won the team classification and delivered Jean-Christophe Péraud to the podium at the 2014 Tour de France, and part of those which assisted Romain Bardet to podium finishes at the 2016 Tour de France and the 2017 Tour de France. In August 2021 the announced that Gastauer would retire from competition at the end of the season due to a problem with his pelvic floor, finishing his career at the 2021 Tour de Luxembourg the following month. Carlos Alberto Betancur Gómez (born 13 October 1989) is a Colombian road racing cyclist, who most recently rode for Colombian amateur team . Seillans Var France
Seillans (; oc, Selhan) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Montauroux
Montauroux (; oc, Montauron) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Its neighbor town is the picturesque Callian which can be seen across a small valley. Geography Montauroux is situated in the east of the Var and at the border of the Alpes-Maritimes. A sprinter is a road bicycle racer or track racer who can finish a race very explosively by accelerating quickly to a high speed, often using the slipstream of another cyclist or group of cyclists tactically to conserve energy. Puncheur
A puncheur or puncher is a road bicycle racer who specialises in rolling terrain with short but steep climbs. The ideal races for this type of rider are one-day spring classics, which are characterized by multiple hills with a 10–20% gradient and are 1–2 km long. Examples include climbs at Liège–Bastogne–Liège, the Mur de Huy in the Flèche Wallonne and the Cauberg in the Amstel Gold Race, which comprise the Ardennes classics. Puncheurs are usually relatively well built, with broader shoulders and bigger legs than the average racing cyclist.
