2015 Stanford Cardinal Football Team
The 2015 Stanford Cardinal football team represented Stanford University in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cardinal were led by fifth-year head coach David Shaw. They played their home games at Stanford Stadium and were members of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference. In 2015, the Cardinal were the champions of the Pac-12. After finishing in first place in the North Division, they beat USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game by a score of 41–22. They defeated Iowa 45–16 in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2016. David Shaw (American Football)
David Lorenzo Shaw (born July 31, 1972) is an American football coach. He served as head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team from 2011 to 2022. Shaw was the team's offensive coordinator for the entire tenure of his predecessor, head coach Jim Harbaugh, from 2007 to 2010. Previously, Shaw was a four-year letter winner playing as a wide receiver for the Cardinal from 1991 to 1994, where he was coached by Dennis Green and Bill Walsh. Prior to returning to Stanford as offensive coordinator, Shaw was Harbaugh's passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego and an assistant coach in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. The Stanford Cardinal football program represents Stanford University in college football at the NCAA Division I FBS level and is a member of the Pac-12 Conference's North Division. Lance Taylor (American Football)
Lance Taylor (born July 17, 1981) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Western Michigan University, a position he has held since the 2023 season. Playing career Taylor was a walk-on wide receiver for Alabama from 1999 to 2002, where he played under four different head coaches - Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, and Mike Shula. He eventually would play in 38 consecutive games as a wide receiver and earn a scholarship. As a senior, Taylor was a special-teams captain. Taylor played professional football for the Colorado Crush and Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League, and the Green Bay Blizzard and the Louisville Fire of the AF2. Randy Hart
Randy Hart (born March 9, 1948) is a former American football player and coach, earning national championships as both a player and coach. He served as a college assistant coach for over forty seasons including over twenty at the University of Washington. Hart primarily served as a defensive line coach during his career. High school Hart was a three-time letterman in football, wrestling and track at South High School in Willoughby, Ohio. Tavita Pritchard (born February 20, 1987) is an American football coach who is the quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders. He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal, where he was also an assistant coach from 2010 to 2022. High school career Pritchard graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Washington, where he threw for 5,323 yards and 55 touchdowns in his high school career. College career Pritchard received his first start at Stanford in 2007 against top-ranked USC, after starter T. C. Ostrander suffered a seizure the week before. The Arizona Wildcats football program represents the University of Arizona (UA) in the sport of American college football. Peter Hansen (American Football)
Peter Scott Hansen (born May 30, 1979) is an American football coach and former player who is the linebackers coach for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). Playing career Hansen attended Palo Alto High School where played football for his father, head coach Earl Hansen. Peter quarterbacked the Vikings to their first-ever Central Coast Section in 1995 and scored two touchdowns in a 14–10 win over Saratoga High School in the Division IV finals. Hansen played both football and basketball at the University of Arizona. Duane Akina
Duane Akina (born October 22, 1956) is the defensive backs coach for the Stanford Cardinal football team. In 28 years of coaching football, Akina has coached three Thorpe Award winners in Darryll Lewis (1990), Michael Huff (2005), and Aaron Ross (2006), as well as five finalists for the award, among them Chris McAlister. Twenty of his defensive backs have also gone on to play in the NFL. He was an assistant coach to Dick Tomey at the University of Arizona for 14 years, serving as defensive backs coach and offensive coordinator. He was named Arizona defensive coordinator in 2000, but decided to leave for Texas to become the team's defensive back coach.
