2015 Oceania Under 20 Rugby Championship
The 2015 Oceania Rugby Under 20s, was the first edition of the Oceania Rugby Junior Championship. It was played as two tournaments; the Oceania Under 20 Championship hosted on the Gold Coast in Australia, and the Oceania Under 20 Trophy hosted in Suva, Fiji. The Championship tournament was played in May and won by New Zealand, who defeated Australia by 46–29 in the last match of the round-robin competition. A planned tournament for a further six national under 20 sides was postponed, however the Trophy competition was eventually played in December and won by Fiji, who defeated Tonga by 19–10 in the last round to qualify for the World Rugby U20 Trophy in 2016. The 2016 Oceania Rugby Under 20 Championship, was the second edition of the Oceania Rugby Junior Championship. It was played as two tournaments; the Oceania Under 20 Championship hosted on the Gold Coast in Australia, and the Oceania Under 20 Trophy hosted in Suva. The Championship was played in May, with New Zealand defeating Australia by 30–10 in the first match of the tournament. Australia won the second match by 25–24 to draw the series one-all, but New Zealand took the championship due to superior points difference. The Trophy competition was played in December and won by Fiji, who defeated Tonga by 18–13 in the last round to qualify for the World Rugby U20 Trophy in 2017. The World Rugby Under 20 Trophy (known as the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 8 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. The 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship was the eighth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. The event was organised for the second time in Italy by rugby's governing body, World Rugby. Twelve nations played in the tournament, with matches hosted by Parma, Viadana, Calvisano and Cremona, host city of the final match. England went into the tournament as the two-time defending champions after they successfully defended their title in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship (as the tournament was known through 2014).
