2015 NACRA Sevens
The 2015 NACRA Sevens was an Olympic qualification tournament for Rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in the United States at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina on 13–14 June 2015. The teams were split into two groups. The top two teams in each group advanced to the semi-finals. The winning team qualified directly to the Olympics, and the second and third placed teams advanced to the Olympic Qualification Tournament. Pools Note: The team from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was scheduled to participate in Pool A, but withdrew after their players were denied visas to enter the United States. 2014 NACRA Sevens
The 2014 NACRA sevens is an annual rugby sevens competition held for teams affiliated with the North America Caribbean Rugby Association. The competition was held between December 3 and 4 at the Campo Marte in Mexico City, Mexico. A total of twelve teams (including two from host nation Mexico) competed in the men's tournament. In the men's gold medal match, Guyana managed to come back from being down 7–21 at half time to defeat Mexico. The top two teams in the men's competition, along with the winner of the women's competition qualified to compete at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. Rugby Americas North Sevens
The Rugby Americas North Sevens is the rugby sevens competition for the confederation of North American and Caribbean rugby. It periodically serves as the regional qualifying competition for the World Cup Sevens and the Rugby sevens at the Olympics. In the early years of the competition the tier two teams from North America (Canada, United States) did not always participate or only sent representative sides outside of tournaments for World Cup qualification (2012) or Olympic qualification ( 2015). Rugby Sevens At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's rugby sevens tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held in Brazil. It was hosted at the Deodoro Stadium, a temporary outdoor stadium constructed as part of the Deodoro Modern Pentathlon Park in Rio de Janeiro. The tournament was held from 9 August to 11 August 2016, starting with group matches before finishing with the medal ceremony on 11 August. The 2016 Games marked the first time that rugby sevens has been played at the Olympics, and the first time since 1924 that any form of rugby had been played at the Olympics. The gold medal for Fiji represented the first Olympic medal earned by Fiji at any Olympics. Great Britain won silver and South Africa defeated Japan to win the bronze medal. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is considered a Tier 3 rugby nation by World Rugby of which it is a full member. It is also a member of the Rugby Americas North (RAN).
