2015 Miami Hurricanes Baseball Team
The 2015 Miami Hurricanes baseball team will represent the University of Miami during the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Hurricanes will play their home games at Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They will be led by head coach Jim Morris, in his 22nd season at Miami. Previous season In 2014, the Hurricanes finished the season as champions of the ACC's Coastal Division with a record of 44–19, 24–6 in conference play. They qualified for the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament, and were eliminated in pool play. They qualified for the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, and were hosts of the Coral Gables regional which included Texas Tech, Columbia, and Bethune-Cookman. Jim Morris (baseball Coach)
Jim Morris (born February 20, 1950) is the former head baseball coach at the University of Miami and Georgia Tech. His teams qualified for NCAA Regionals for 32 consecutive years, 23 at Miami and nine at Georgia Tech. Morris won national championships in 1999 and 2001, and earned National Coach of the Year honors in both seasons. Early career Morris began his coaching career as an assistant at Appalachian State in 1975. In 1976, he accepted the challenge of building, from scratch, a baseball program at Atlanta's DeKalb Community College. At DeKalb, Morris started with no players and no field, but he quickly made a name for himself. His Eagles were nationally ranked three times in four years and advanced to the 1977 Junior College World Series, where DeKalb placed second. Morris added two more winning years at DeKalb before moving on to become an assistant coach at Florida State. The 2015 Florida Gators baseball team represented the University of Florida in the sport of baseball during the 2015 college baseball season. The Gators competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They played their home games at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered.
