2015 London Sevens
The 2015 London Sevens was the ninth and final tournament within the 2014–15 Sevens World Series. This edition of the London Sevens was held over the weekend of 16–17 May 2015 at Twickenham in London. The most notable headline from this event was the first-ever overall tournament victory by the United States. The USA's Madison Hughes was named player of the tournament, with Hughes and Danny Barrett the two Americans selected for the tournament Dream Team. The overall series crown was secured by Fiji when they defeated South Africa in the Cup quarter-finals. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each. Each team plays all the others in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advance to the Cup/Plate brackets. The bottom two teams go into the Bowl/Shield brackets. 2014–15 Sevens World Series
The 2014–15 Sevens World Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC Sevens World Series, was the 16th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national rugby sevens teams. The Sevens World Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999–2000. This series also, for the first time, doubled as a qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics, with the top four countries qualifying automatically. Itinerary The schedule for the 2014–15 Series was released to the public in early March 2014. Core teams For each season, 15 core teams receive guaranteed berths in all events for that season's series. Fourteen of these teams qualified via their placement in the 2013–14 series. South Africa National Rugby Sevens Team
The South African national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, the Rugby World Cup Sevens, the Summer Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. Overall, the team has won the World Rugby Sevens Series 4 times, as well as having won 39 tournaments in the series. History After readmission to international sport following the ending of the apartheid ban, the team played their first sevens series in the 1993 Hong Kong Sevens, and also participated in the 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Sherwin Stowers (born 19 May 1986) is a New Zealand former rugby player. He played for the Blues Super Rugby side, for whom he made 11 appearances following his 2011 debut. 2014 London Sevens
The 2014 London Sevens was the eighth and final tournament of the 2013–14 IRB Sevens World Series. This edition of the London Sevens was hosted at Twickenham Stadium in London, England. Format The sixteen teams competing were divided into four pools of four, who will play a round-robin within the pool. Points are awarded in each pool depending on the result; 3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss. The top two teams in each pool advanced to the Cup competition. The four quarterfinal losers dropped into the bracket for the Plate. The Bowl was contested by the third and fourth-place finishers in each pool, with the losers in the Bowl quarterfinals dropping into the bracket for the Shield. Danny Barrett (rugby Union)
Danny Barrett (born March 23, 1990) is an American rugby player who plays as a forward. He previously played for the U.S. national rugby team, and also played for the U.S. national rugby sevens team. Barrett was in the Men's Eagles Sevens pool for the World Rugby Sevens Series until late 2021. Barrett's strong play during the 2016–17 season landed him one of the seven spots on the 2017 season Dream Team, alongside teammate Perry Baker.
