The 2015 Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game was the All-Star game for the 2014–15 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). It took place on 25 January 2015 at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi, Russia, and resulted in Team East, captained by Danis Zaripov, winning 18–16 over Team West, captained by Ilya Kovalchuk. The Bolshoy Ice Dome (russian: Большой Ледовый дворец) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Sochi Olympic Park, Olympic Park, Sochi, Russia. Opened in 2012, the 12,000-seat arena was primarily constructed to host Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics, hockey competitions during the 2014 Winter Olympics. Following the Games, it became the home arena of HC Sochi, an expansion team of the KHL. The arena has also hosted concerts and other events. The 2014 Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game took place on January 11, 2014, at the Slovnaft Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia, home of Slovan Bratislava, during the 2013–14 KHL season. Before the game, the players will compete in various events designed to test their speed, technique and creative skills. The day before the All-Star Game, on 10 January 2013, several legendary veterans of Russian and Czechoslovak hockey played against each other in a friendly game. 2014–15 KHL Season
The 2014–15 KHL season was the seventh season of the Kontinental Hockey League. The season started on 3 September with the Opening Cup between defending champions Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Dynamo Moscow, replacing Lev Praha, last year's runner up not participating this season. Team changes Prior to the season, the KHL added three more teams: Jokerit from Helsinki, Lada Togliatti (an earlier member of the KHL that spent the last four seasons in the VHL) and HC Sochi, an expansion team from Sochi. HC Donbass did not play in the league this season, due to Russian invasion of Ukraine which culminated in a devastating fire at their home arena. Donbass intended to rejoin KHL for the 2015–16 season, but ultimately joined the new Ukrainian Hockey Extra League. Danis Zinnurovich Zaripov (russian: Данис Зиннурович Зарипов, tt-Cyrl, Данис Зиннур улы Зарипов; born 26 March 1981) is a Russian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Ilya Valeryevich Kovalchuk (russian: Илья Валерьевич Ковальчук; born 15 April 1983) is a Russian former professional ice hockey winger.
