2015 IPC Athletics World Championships – Men's Marathon
The men's marathon at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships was held in the streets of London on 26 April as part of the 2015 London Marathon. Classification Athletes were given a classification depending on the type and extent of their disability. The classification system allowed athletes to compete against others with a similar level of function. The athletics classifications are: *11–13: Blind (11) and visually impaired (12, 13) athletes *31–38: Athletes with cerebral palsy *51–58: Athletes with a spinal cord disability The class numbers were given prefixes of "T", "F" and "P" for track, field and pentathlon events, respectively. Visually impaired athletes classified 11 run with full eye shades and a guide runner; those classified 12 have the option of using a guide; those classified 13 did not use a guide runner. Marathon
The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions. More than 800 marathons are held throughout the world each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes, as larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants. The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896. The distance did not become standardized until 1921. Derek Rae (born 9 April 1967) is a Scottish association football commentator and presenter who currently works for ESPN and ABC in the United States for the English-language coverages of Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and La Liga and Deutsche Fußball Liga for the English-language world feed as well as the Premier League coverage on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Alessandro Di Lello (born 18 July 1977) is a Paralympic athlete from Italy competing mainly in category T46 long distance events. In 2012 Di Lello won the marathon at the IPC World Championships and followed this with victory in the T46 classification at the 2013 London Marathon. Sports career Di Lello first began running in an attempt to lose weight, and in 1992 he started competing in long distance races. A motor bike accident resulted in a muscle impairment and Di Lello was subsequently classified as a T46 parasport athlete. One of the first major competitions he entered was the 2009 New York Marathon, but he was forced to retire from the event with an Achilles tendon inflammation. In 2012 he competed alongside fellow countryman Walter Endrizzi in the Summer Paralympics in London. Di Lello finished 8th with a time of 2.46:27. Abderrahman Ait Khamouch Badaui (born 9 November 1986) is a Paralympic athlete from Spain competing mainly in category T46 middle distance and marathon events. Originally from Morocco, he emigrated to Spain and gained citizenship in August 2008. He has represented Spain at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics, winning silver in the 1,500 meters and bronze in the 800 meters in 2008, and silver in the marathon in 2012. Personal Ait Khamouch was born on 9 November 1986. He was born in Morocco. He is the second youngest child in his family. He has an arm amputation, as a result of a fall when he was a child that led to medical complications that later resulted in him getting gangrene.
