2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships
The 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships () was the 41st edition of the global championships in cross country running, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held in Guiyang, China on 28 March. It was the first time that the event was held in China, and the third occasion it took place in Asia (after Fukuoka in 2006, and Amman in 2009). Senior and junior races were held for men and women, with the four races having both a team and individual element. Overview The senior individual titles were won by Kenyan athletes. Geoffrey Kipsang, a former junior champion and reigning world half marathon champion, took the men's title by a margin of eight seconds. The 19-year-old Agnes Jebet Tirop was the women's champion, establishing herself as a senior athlete for the first time after her runner-up finish in the junior race at the 2013 edition. Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei
Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei (born 12 September 1996) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is the reigning Olympic champion in the 5000 metres and silver medalist for the 10,000 metres, a two-time 10,000 m World champion from 2019 and 2022, World silver medallist from 2017, and the 2019 World Cross Country champion. Cheptegei won also gold medals for the 5000 m and 10,000 m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He currently holds world records in both disciplines, and holds world best in the 15 kilometres road race. He is also the current Ugandan record holder in both the 5 km and 10 km. Cheptegei is the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000 m and 10,000 m world records concurrently, both set in 2020. Yemane Haileselassie (born 21 February 1998) is an Eritrean male steeplechase runner. He is the national record holder at 8:22.52 minutes and represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He made his international debut at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and placed 23rd in the junior race and shared in the team junior bronze medals. A senior debut followed at the 2015 African Games and he placed sixth at the 3000 metres steeplechase. At the start of the 2016 outdoor season he ran an Eritrean national record of 8:22.52 minutes. Yemaneberhan "Yeman" Crippa (born 15 October 1996) is an Ethiopian-born Italian long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres and bronze for the 5000 metres at the European Athletics Championships in 2022, and bronze in the 10,000 m in 2018. Crippa claimed four medals in the age-group races at the European Cross Country Championships and a bronze in the senior race in 2019. He earned the bronze medal in the 5000 m at the 2015 European Junior Championships and gold at the 2017 European U23 Championships. Soufiane El Bakkali ( ar, سفيان البقالي, born 7 January 1996) is a Moroccan male runner specializing in the 3000 metres steeplechase. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion, having previously finished fourth at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
