2015 Fort Bliss Shooting
The Fort Bliss shooting occurred on January 6, 2015, when Jerry Serrato, a 48-year-old U.S. Army veteran, fatally shot Dr. Timothy Fjordbak, a psychologist, at the Veteran's Affairs clinic located on the grounds of William Beaumont Army Medical Center of Fort Bliss, Texas. No further casualties were reported during the shooting. However, the shooting and the subsequent emergency response resulted in the lock-down of the hospital and two nearby schools for nearly two hours while law enforcement officials worked to resolve the situation. William Beaumont Army Medical Center is a Department of Defense medical facility located in Fort Bliss, Texas. The 89th Cavalry Regiment is a Regiment of the United States Army first established in 1940. History 1st Squadron History 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment deployed to Germany in 1944 (then known as 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion). The unit saw little action during the War, but still had notable moments. 1st Squadron was patrolling near a town named Scherpenseel in Holland where they were ambushed by a German artillery unit. 10th Mountain Division
The 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) is a light infantry division in the United States Army based at Fort Drum, New York.
