2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup
The 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup was the twentieth edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The competition took place for the first time in New Zealand, the third time on Oceanian soil after Australia staged the 1981 and 1993 editions. A total of 52 matches were played in seven host cities. During the first meeting of the local organising committee in January 2013, provisional dates of 19 June to 11 July were given towards hosting of games, with a final decision on stadiums and cities originally meant to be taken in February 2013. Two more postponements then followed. France, the 2013 champions, were unable to defend their title as they failed to reach the final round of the UEFA qualifying tournament. Matthew George Robert Ridenton (born 11 March 1996) is a New Zealand footballer who plays as a midfielder for Lions FC. Club career Ridenton played youth football for Three Kings United and Saint Kentigern College, and made his career debut the age of 18 for ISPS Handa Premiership club Auckland City. Ridenton signed a professional contract at Hyundai A-League side Wellington Phoenix in 2013. The Akron Zips men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Akron. The team is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Mid-American Conference through the 2022 season, after which it will join the Big East Conference as a single-sport member. Andrew Tennant Blake (born 14 March 1996) is a professional New Zealand footballer who plays for Auckland City FC. On 26 August 2015, he made his professional senior debut for Wellington Phoenix in the 2015 FFA Cup against Melbourne City. The Xavier Musketeers men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Xavier University. The team is a member of the Big East Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. History Xavier University is a Jesuit university established in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1831. In March 1974, it was announced that a varsity soccer program would be formed at Xavier, and tryouts were held. Coached by Bob McKinney, the team played their first ever regular season match on September 21, 1974 at Corcoran Field, defeating the visiting Thomas More Rebels 3–2.
