2015 FIBA Americas Championship Qualification
The qualification for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico was held as early as 2013 until 2014. There are several stages of qualification for some teams. Aside from the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, the tournaments also doubled as qualifiers for basketball at the 2015 Pan-American Games. Qualification format Each FIBA Americas subzone has a specific number of berths, generally based on the relative strengths of its member national teams. The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Brazil. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament was won for the first time by the Venezuelan national basketball team. Basketball At The 2015 Pan American Games – Men's Tournament
The men's basketball tournament at the 2015 Pan American Games was held in Toronto, Canada at the Ryerson Athletic Centre from July 21 to 25. For these Games, the men competed in an 8-team tournament. The teams were grouped into two pools of four teams each for a round-robin preliminary round. The top two teams in each group will advance to a single elimination bracket. Puerto Rico are the defending champions from the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, defeating Mexico, 74–72 in the final. 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup
The 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the 17th edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, the tournament previously known as the FIBA World Championship. Hosted by Spain, it was the last tournament to be held on the then-current four-year cycle. The next FIBA World Cup was held five years later, in 2019, to reset the four-year-cycle on a different year than the FIFA World Cup.
