The 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships were the 23rd edition of the biennial European U20 athletics championships. They were held in Eskilstuna, Sweden from 16 July to 19 July. The medal table was topped by Great Britain with 17 medals overall, including 11 golds, ahead of Germany and Russia. Eskilstuna
Eskilstuna () is a city and the seat of Eskilstuna Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden. The city of Eskilstuna had 67,359 inhabitants in 2015, with a total population of 100,092 inhabitants in Eskilstuna municipality (2014). Eskilstuna has a large Sweden Finn population. The town is located on the River Eskilstunaån, which connects Lake Hjälmaren and Lake Mälaren. History Eskilstuna's history dates back to medieval times when English monk Saint Eskil made "Tuna" his base and diocese of the South coast of Lake Mälaren. Saint Eskil was stoned to death by the pagan vikings of neighbouring town Strängnäs, east of Eskilstuna, trying to convert them to Christianity. Saint Eskil was buried in his monastery church in Tuna. Later the pagan city of Strängnäs was Christianised and was given the privilege of becoming diocese of South Lake Mälaren. Karsten Warholm
Karsten Warholm (; born 28 February 1996) is a Norwegian sprinter who competes in the 400 metres and 400 m hurdles. He’s the world record holder in the latter event. In July 2021, he broke the 29-year-old world record in 400 metres hurdles. The following month at the 2020 Summer Olympics, he won the gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles with a time of 45.94 seconds, breaking his own world record by over three-quarters of a second. Warholm has also won gold in the event at the World Championships in 2017 and 2019, as well as the 2018 European Championships. He is a two-time 400m hurdles Diamond League champion. Dieter Kersten (born 25 October 1996) is a Belgian athlete who specializes in long distance and cross-country running. Career Kersten took part in the 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships in the 10,000 m, winning the bronze medal. In 2016, he became Belgian indoor champion in the 3000 m for the first time. In cross-country running, Kersten finished eighth in 2015 at the European U20 Cross Country Championships. Yemaneberhan "Yeman" Crippa (born 15 October 1996) is an Ethiopian-born Italian long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres and bronze for the 5000 metres at the European Athletics Championships in 2022, and bronze in the 10,000 m in 2018. Josh Kerr (born 8 October 1997) is a Scottish middle-distance runner who competes primarily in the 1500 metres. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist in the event.
