2015 Energiewacht Tour
The 2015 Energiewacht Tour was the 5th edition of the Energiewacht Tour, a stage race primarily held in the Netherlands, with a UCI rating of 2.2, from 8 to 12 April. The last stage took place on the island of Borkum in Germany. Teams A total of 22 teams participated in the race. withdrew from the race in protest against the cost of the race entry fee. Stages Prologue ;8 April 2015 – Winsum to Winsum, , individual time trial (ITT) The main favourite for the prologue, the World Time Trial Champion Lisa Brennauer was beaten by 5 seconds by Anna van der Breggen. Brennauer said after her race, before Van der Breggen started, that she was pleased with her performance. Another favourite to win the prologue, the former World Time Trial Champion Ellen van Dijk had been ill for the last few days before the prologue and finished ninth, 10 seconds behind Van der Breggen. Lisa Brennauer
Lisa Brennauer (born 8 June 1988) is a German former Cycle sport, racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2022, for six different teams. On the track, Brennauer won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's team pursuit, women's team pursuit with Mieke Kröger, Lisa Klein (cyclist), Lisa Klein and Franziska Brauße, setting the new world record. She also won two gold medals at the 2021 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, and four gold medals over three different UEC European Track Championships. Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk (; born 11 February 1987) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. Van Dijk is known as a time trial specialist and is five times world champion. She won her first world title on the track in the scratch race in 2008. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Winsum
Winsum () is a town and a former municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. On 1 January 2019 the municipality merged with the municipalities of Bedum, De Marne and Eemsmond to form the new municipality Het Hogeland. The town of Winsum was officially established in 1057 as the fusion of three historic villages: Obergum (North), Winsum (center) and Bellingeweer (South). The majority of the town's 8,000 inhabitants commute to the nearby city Groningen.
