2015 Czech Republic Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2015 Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix was the eleventh round of the 2015 MotoGP season. It was held at the Masaryk Circuit in Brno on 16 August 2015. In the premier class, Jorge Lorenzo took his second pole position of the season and ultimately his fifth win of the season, ahead of Marc Márquez and Valentino Rossi. Andrea Iannone finished fourth, while fifth place was contested by Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa, with Pedrosa ultimately coming out on top by 0.075 seconds. Cal Crutchlow, Maverick Viñales, Alex de Angelis, and Eugene Laverty all crashed out of the race before the halfway mark. With these results, Lorenzo's win gave him the championship lead over Rossi, by virtue of more wins at that point. Pol Espargaró Villà (born 10 June 1991) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who for 2023 will ride in the MotoGP class for the newly named GasGas Factory Racing team, a development of Tech3. He previously spent two years with Repsol Honda. Pol is the younger brother of fellow MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaró, and is best known for winning the 2013 Moto2 World Championship. Bradley Smith (born 28 November 1990) is a British occasional motorcycle racer who for 2022 is linked to RNF E-Racing in MotoE. He was injured shortly after a Le Mans start when he was the opening rider team for Moto Ain Yamaha, at an FIM Endurance World Championship event in April 2022. He missed the opening three rounds of the MotoE racing season, being declared unfit to race at the third round at Mugello on 29 May 2022. Late in 2022, Smith was called-in to ride as a rookie in the World Supersport Championship class, to replace injured Leonardo Taccini. Smith finished 14th after a three-place penalty in the first race at Circuito San Juan Villicum (Argentina), but was taken out when Luca Bernadi crashed into the rear of his Ten Kate Yamaha R6 at turn one early in the second race. Gresini Racing is a motorcycle racing team competing in the MotoGP World Championship under the name Gresini Racing MotoGP as a Ducati satellite team, in the Moto2 World Championship as Team Gresini Moto2, and the MotoE World Cup as Felo Gresini MotoE. Eugene Laverty (born 3 June 1986) is a professional motorcycle road racing, road racer from Northern Ireland, the brother of Michael Laverty, Michael and John Laverty, John. For 2022, Laverty is contracted to ride for satellite BMW team Bonovo in World Superbike Championship. Cal Crutchlow (born 29 October 1985) is an English professional motorcycle racer who retired from regular competition after the 2020 season. He is contracted as a test rider for Yamaha Motor Racing, which he is expected to continue in 2022 and 2023.
