The 2015 Birmingham Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 30, 2015 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama in the United States. The tenth annual Birmingham Bowl featured a team from the Southeastern Conference against a team from the American Athletic Conference. The game was played at 11:00 a.m. CST and aired on ESPN. Kerryon Johnson (born June 30, 1997) is an American football running back who is a free agent. He played college football at Auburn and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Early years Johnson attended Madison Academy in Madison, Alabama. The 2015–16 NCAA football bowl games were a series of college football bowl games. They completed the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The games began on December 19, 2015 and, aside from the all-star games, ended with the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship which was played on January 11, 2016. A new record total of 41 team-competitive bowl games were played in FBS, including the national championship game and the inaugural Cure Bowl and Arizona Bowl. Birmingham Bowl
The Birmingham Bowl is a post-season NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS college football bowl game played annually in Birmingham, Alabama. First held in 2006, the game is owned and operated by ESPN Events. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) also provides marketing, management and game-day operations support. The game was previously known as the PapaJohns.com Bowl (2006–2010) and the BBVA Compass Bowl (2011–2014). TicketSmarter signed on as the title sponsor of the 2019 game, making it the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl.
