2015 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2015 Atlantic 10 women's basketball tournament was played March 4–8 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. This will be a 14 team Tournament with the addition of Davidson. The top 10 seeds received a first round bye and the top 4 seeds received a double bye. The 2015 tournament champion received an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA tournament. Seeds Teams are seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. Richmond Coliseum
Richmond Coliseum is a defunct arena located in downtown Richmond, Virginia, with a capacity of 13,500 that was most often used for various large concerts. The arena opened in 1971 and the region is looking to replace the aging facility with a larger one. The arena was quietly shuttered in February 2019 while new proposed replacements are in development. History Until John Paul Jones Arena opened in 2006, the Richmond Coliseum was the largest sports arena in Virginia. The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams men's basketball team played in the arena until the 7,500-seat Siegel Center opened on the VCU campus in 1999. Jonathan Peter Tsipis (born November 7, 1972) is the former head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers women's basketball team. Career He was previously the head coach of the George Washington University women's basketball team, where he had an overall record of 92–38 in four years. During the 2014–15 season he led George Washington to an overall record of 29–4 and A10 regular season and tournament championships. 2015 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2015 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was played between March and April 2015, with the Final Four played April 5 & 7. The regional locations, after a one-year experiment allowing tournament teams to host, returned to four neutral sites: Oklahoma City, Spokane, Greensboro and Albany. The subregionals were played 20–23 March, while the regionals were played 27–30 March. This represented a change; in the past, the rounds were played starting on a Saturday and ending on a Tuesday. In 2015, the opening rounds and regionals (but not the Final Four) were played starting on a Friday and ending on a Monday. The Final Four was played at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. For only the third time in history, all four of the number one seeds made it to the Final Four. 2014–15 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Season
The 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November and ended with the Final Four in Tampa, Florida, April 5–7. Practices officially began on October 3. This was the final season in which NCAA women's basketball games were played in 20-minute halves. Beginning with the 2015–16 season, the women's game switched to 10-minute quarters, the standard for FIBA and WNBA play.
