2014–15 Liga ASOBAL
The 2014–15 Liga ASOBAL, also named Liga ASOBAL BAUHAUS by sponsorship reasons, is the 25th season since its establishment. FC Barcelona was the defending champions. The campaign began in September 2014. The last matchday will be played in May 2015. A total of 16 teams contest the league, 14 of which had already contested in the 2013–14 season, and two of which were promoted from the División de Plata 2013–14. Liga Asobal is the premier professional handball league in Spain. It was founded in 1958 with the name of División de Honor, changing its name to the current name in 1990. The Liga ASOBAL, which is played under EHF rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including famous ones like FC Barcelona, Ademar León, Bidasoa and Granollers. History Balonmano Ciudad Encantada was established in 1989 when acquired the TNT Uniexpress's seat, a team from San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid, relocating the team to Cuenca and renaming it as ''Madrid-Cuenca''. Until 1975 it played in the provincial categories when not existing economic availability to be able to promotion.
