Portuguese Television
Television in Portugal was introduced in 1956 (test broadcasts) by Radiotelevisão Portuguesa (now named Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), which held the nationwide television monopoly until late 1992. Regular broadcasting was introduced on March 7, 1957. Colour transmissions were introduced on March 10, 1980. Digital terrestrial television (DTT) was introduced at a very late stage when compared to other countries in Europe and with limited channels, and according to the European Audiovisual Observatory it occupies the last place in 34 European countries with the weakest offer on digital terrestrial television, in such a way that most Portuguese are subscribers of cable (HFC) or IPTV (DSL or FTTH) platforms, in percentages higher than in the rest of Europe and these platforms are well developed with many channels. Secret Story 4 (Portugal)
''Secret Story - Casa dos Segredos 4'' is the fourth season of the Portuguese reality television show '' Secret Story''. It is based on the French version of '' Secret Story'', which itself is based on the international format, ''Big Brother''. All episodes will be broadcast on TVI. It started on 29 September. The opening gala coincided with televised broadcasts of the results of the just-ended local government election. Despite being one of the most highly contested local government elections, with near-record voter turnout, The show enjoyed an impressive 39,9% audience share, 1.7 million viewers. Housemates Aníbal Aníbal Borges is 37 and is from Alenquer. He is the operational manager of a chemical company. He is the twin brother of an ex-housemate from Big Brother 1, Marco Borges. ''Factor X'' was the Portuguese version of the television music competition '' The X Factor'', originally created by Simon Cowell. The Voice Portugal
''The Voice Portugal'' (''A Voz de Portugal'' in the first season) is a Portuguese reality singing competition and local version of '' The Voice'', originally broadcast as '' The Voice of Holland''. It premiered on 29 October 2011, on RTP1, with the first-season finale airing on 25 February 2012, crowning Denis Filipe as the winner. The show came back in 2014 with its second season with new coaches, a new co-host, a new show name, and new ''Repórteres V'' (backstage hosts). The winner of the second season was Rui Drumond. RTP1 later announced the first season of '' The Voice Kids'' and the third season of the main show. The third season premiered on 11 October 2015 with a new coach, Aurea. In its third season, the show proved to be a hit and was subsequently renewed for a fourth season, which was premiered in 2016. Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) is the public service broadcasting organisation of Portugal. ''Remédio Santo'' is a Portuguese telenovela that started airing on TVI on 18 May 2011. It was nominated for an International Emmy Award for best telenovela in 2012. Story Do you believe in miracles? SIC (acronym of full name Sociedade Independente de Comunicação) ("Independent Communication Society") is a Portuguese television network and media company, which runs several television channels. Their flagship channel is the eponymous SIC, the third terrestrial television station in Portugal, launched on 6 October 1992. SIC is owned by Impresa, a Portuguese media conglomerate. TVI - initialism for Televisão Independente ("Independent Television") - is Portugal's fourth terrestrial television channel, launched in 1993. It was the most watched channel in Portugal from 2005 to 2019. It competes directly with SIC and RTP1. It is one of the two private free-to-air channels in Portugal, among the seven terrestrial free-to-air channels broadcasting from the country. RTP1
RTP1 (''RTP um'') is a Portuguese free-to-air television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP). It is the company's flagship television channel, and is known for broadcasting mainstream and generalist programming, including '' Telejornal'' news bulletins, prime time drama, cinema and entertainment, and major breaking news, sports and special events. It was launched on 7 March 1957 as the first regular television service in Portugal. It was the only one until 25 December 1968, when RTP launched a second channel. Two regional channels followed, RTP Madeira on 6 August 1972 and RTP Açores on 10 August 1975. As RTP held a monopoly on television broadcasting in the country, they were the only television channels until the first commercial television was launched on 6 October 1992, when SIC started broadcasting nationwide. AMC (European TV Channel)
AMC is a European TV channel launched by AMC Networks International. AMC replaced the MGM Channel on 5 November 2014, but in Poland on 6 May 2016. AMC-produced dramas ''Halt & Catch Fire'' and '' The Divide'' are among the first original series that premiered on the channel. The channel also airs films from MGM, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The channel launched in the United Kingdom on 28 August 2015, in partnership with BT TV and branded AMC from BT. Until 2019, Sky customers in the UK had access to the channel if they subscribed to BT Sport, but was subsequently removed from the platform on 2 October 2019, making the channel exclusive to BT TV subscribers. AMC closed in the Netherlands and Flanders on 31 December 2018 and in Russia on 1 January 2019, where it was replaced by Hollywood channel.
