2014 World Rowing Championships
The 2014 World Rowing Championships were the 44th edition of the World Rowing Championships and were held from 24 to 31 August 2014 at Bosbaan, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the second occasion on which the event had been held in Amsterdam, or the Netherlands. The annual week-long rowing regatta is organised by FISA (the International Rowing Federation and in non-Olympic Games years such as 2014 he regatta is the highlight of the international rowing calendar, where all classes of boats compete. The 2014 championships were notable for the number of world best times set on days seven & eight of competition. New Zealand rowers Eric Murray and Hamish Bond achieved a rare double in the coxed and coxless pairs. Bosbaan
The Bosbaan is a rowing lake situated in the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest) in Amstelveen, Netherlands. Amstelveen is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands and is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam. Confusingly, all built structures at the north-eastern end of the course fall under jurisdiction of the city of Amsterdam. The Bosbaan (literal translation: Woods Course) is the oldest artificial rowing course in the world. The course was built in 1936 as part of an employment project and originally had five lanes, but was then widened to six lanes in 1954 when Amsterdam hosted the European Rowing Championships, the first international event where women were allowed to participate as elite rowers. Following a major renovation in 2001, the Bosbaan measures 2200 metres in length, 118 metres across and features 8 lanes. Francesco Fossi
Francesco Fossi (born 15 April 1988) is an Italian rower. He competed in the Men's quadruple sculls event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the men's double sculls at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In the latter event, he finished fourth with teammate Romano Battisti. He has also won a silver medal in the men's double sculls, again with Battisti, at the 2014 World Rowing Championships. The previous year, the pair had won a bronze in the same event. Tim Grohmann with Karl Schulze, Paul Heinrich and Lauritz Schoof. He won bronze at the Tim Grohmann (born 27 December 1988) is a German rower. He was part of the German crew that won the gold medal in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, with Karl Schulze, Philipp Wende and Lauritz Schoof. Graeme Edward Thomas (born 8 November 1988) is a British rower. Rowing career Thomas competed at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju, where he won a bronze medal as part of the quad sculls with Sam Townsend, Charles Cousins and Peter Lambert.
