2014 World Ports Classic
The 2014 World Ports Classic was the third edition of the two-day World Ports Classic cycle race between the port cities of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Antwerp in Belgium. The race was held as part of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour. In contrary to the previous two editions, the race was no longer scheduled near the end of August, but rather in the month of May; the race was held over 24–25 May 2014. 2014 UCI Europe Tour
The 2014 UCI Europe Tour was the tenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2014 season began on 2 February 2014 with the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise, Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise and ended on 19 October 2014 with the Chrono des Nations. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Riccardo Zoidl of Austria was the defending champion of the 2013 UCI Europe Tour. The 2014 Europe Tour was won by Tom Van Asbroeck. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Nikolas Maes
Nikolas Maes (born 9 April 1986) is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2007 and 2020, for the , and teams. He now works as a directeur sportif for his final professional team, UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Kortrijk, Maes gained the first professional win of his career on the third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos around the province's capital city on 7 August 2009 while riding for the cycle team. On 9 September 2009 it was announced he would be joining for the 2010 season. However, his name was not on the team roster presented on 5 October 2009. He subsequently signed with , winning the Young Rider classification of the Tour of Qatar in 2011 and the General Classification and Points Classification of the 2013 World Ports Classic in the Netherlands.
